Oka Inperspective

If I was a Native Indian/Mohawk, and was in a situation that resovled land being taken over by rich companiaes such as a golf course, i would be very disapointed in them. What i would to to get my revenge is first by asking why you want to build your crapy golf course on ancient grounds, and tell them to stop or we'll become violent, then if they denie the offer, i will join the Mohawk Warriors and become very vicious if they harm any of my people.

Diamond Possibilities

Diamond Possibilities
By: Anthony Martino
Mr. Da Luz
Room: 8-2

This is my opinions on the future of what I thought we could do about diamonds.

Diamonds were first discovered in India and had been known in India for the last 3000 to 6000 years. In 1813 Humphrey Davy discovered that diamonds are created by carbon. How he discovered that diamonds are created by carbon (coal) is that he used a lens to concentrate the rays of the sun on a diamond in an atmosphere of oxygen, and showed that the burning of the diamond was carbon dioxcide.

A diamond is known as the hardest rock ever. So hard that it is impossible to scratch it.
Toughness relates to a material's ability to resist breakage from forceful impact. The toughness of natural diamond has been measured as 3.4 MN m-3/2, which is good compared to other gemstones, but poor compared to most engineering materials. As with any material, diamonds has a cleavage plane and is therefore more fragile in some orientations than others.

My Idea’s using the diamond can be a little bit simple and a little complicated. My first idea involves space. I was watching the slide show Mr. Da Luz showed to the class and it explained how diamonds are exploded out of the volcano

(a few) and with 1160 Celcius of heat going through the diamond, it made me curious of what we could do with diamonds in space. So I reserched how hot a diamond can get and it burns/melts/cracks at 4827 Celcius. Now the suns surface tempature is 5400 Celcius which is obviously hotter than the diamond can take, but if we could find something or even create something that could help the diamond survive that heat tempature, it could be possible for a human to walk on the sun, or even fly close to it with no fear.(with the exception of the sun’s gravitational pull). Maybe the diamond could ressit the radiation coming from the suns surface by its shine, because I learned in science bright colors, items, ect, can reflect heat rays. So if we cover a rocket in diamonds it would be the coolest (speacking in 2 ways) ship ever. Another idea could be using the diamond as a drill to drill through rocks or undergound to some destination or if you wanted to make a tunell you will have to have something that can cut through rock.

The problems of building the rocket would be. Firstly, conecting the diamonds together because you can’t glue it or nail through the daimond. Seoindly, the diamond is a lot stronger than a nail and it could crack the diamond in pieces or in half. Thirdly, even if you were wanting to walk on the surface of the sun, you could be fried because its like being covered in diamonds, except the heat gets traped in you and you become human oven. There might not be any problems with the drill because you can get a couple of steel clamps and just use the ring structure as an example (engadgement ring) and use it as a small scale.

In conclusion, it could be almost impossible to use a diamond as a way to walk on the moon because it would be exactly like a walking human oven on the suns suface.

What is not fair is that a diamond is a girls best friend, and a mans best friend is a dog.

Comparison/Contrast

Article posted April 13, 2009 at 06:20 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 1064

Compare and Contrast:
Chanda’s Secrets/Blood Diamond

Introduction: The compare and contrast essay is about two true story’s, one on a book called Chanda’s Secrets, and the other is on a movie called Blood Diamond.

Chanda’s Secrets: the book Chanda’s Secrets are about a girl, named Chanda. The book describes her life mostly and how it is hard to live with AIDS, or being respected by having AIDS. Chanda has gone through many events such as the loss of her sister, her father, and her two brothers. He sister died of AIDS at the age of one, and her father and two brothers dies in a diamond mine cave-in. her family could not afford much because of no husband and no jobs so Chanda’s mother had to find a new husband to live. (they had a couple of money from the company as a apology but the mother was too upset to take it and did not take it as an apology Chanda has a friend named Esther and she likes to pose and model to tourist. Later on she becomes a prostitute to try to get money for her family, but she gets raped by a couple of guys in a limo and an old man passes on AIDS to her purposely. (Esther dies later on of AIDS)

Blood Diamond: Blood Diamond is about diamond traders who smuggle diamonds from Africa to where ever for an exchange of weapons. How they get these diamonds is by going to villages, mostly gunning everyone down, and the ones who survive either get their hands sliced off or, work in a diamond shaft or a river bed by panning. Once they have there new workers they treat them like dirt. They do not get paid and never will. Later on in the movie, a man named Danny, a diamond smuggler, decides to help a reporter on her how diamonds can get smuggled across country to country. (If you think about it in a way, Danny can be a father of diamonds because he watches out for them and takes care of them) In one of the scenes Danny stumbles upon a prostitute and she was claiming that she dose not have AIDS and was probably prostituting for money for family or for food.

Comparison/contrast: there are many comparisons in this essay, one Chanda’s father and 2 brothers are both diamond miners, and the man who got captured is a diamond miner too, except Chanda’s father is the one who gets paid. Another comparison is when Danny was walking through the streets a prostitute popped up and wanted a time with him. This made me think of Esther how she prostitutes for her family and to do it just for money.

Conclusion: in conclusion there are diamonds that can be brought over by the wrong, or by the right, there for when purchasing a diamond make sure it is from a paid miner or mined in our state or province or even city.

Editorial: Sam's Mart Closing Down

Article posted March 2, 2009 at 01:25 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 262

In my opinion of sam's club being closed down for ever is very acceptible and a little bit mean because, If a company closes many jobs will end and many people will be thrown onto the streets. The reason why i think it's acceptible is becuase the land that sam's club took can be giving back to nature, and an area to grow tree's, or even a beautiful park. But if it was business related then i would have to go with business. As the mafia says it "It's Just Business."

kamasutra

Article posted February 1, 2009 at 06:06 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 184

Kamasutra is a restuaraunt i went to last night (sunday, January 31, 2009) to eat obviously. Kamasutra has great indian foods and amazing mango drinks. If your a first timer for eating indian food i recremend trying butter chicken first with nan bread. Butter chicken is NOT chicken pasted with butter. It's a chicken cooked in a red sweetish sauce thats a little bit spicy surved with rice and nan bread. Nan bread looks like pizza dough but theres no tomato sauce. So if you like Indian food or want to try it go to Kamasutra. (Located at Bayview Avenue South of Eglinton)

PAINTBALLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!

Article posted January 25, 2009 at 11:07 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 163

Today (sunday January 25, 2009) i decided to spend this great weekend shooting some of my friends with a paintball gun :). Me and my bro decided on upgrading our new improved, powerful destructer, and wanted to test it out. The gun that we boght is called the Iron Horse. HERES A PICK!!! isn't she beautiful. Well thats all for the weekend going to see a movie now. So.......PLAY PAINTBALL OR BE A LOOSER=http://! :)
and it dosnt hurt as much if your curious of the pain it depends, if u get shot from far and the paintball dosn't break, then 1. your not out of the game 2. it feels like someone threw a little bee buzing around and then it looks at you and charges and stings you. thats the first feeling. the second feeling is when the paintball breaks which is usaully a close range shot, it feels like a someone getting a belt hitting you with it 3 times then sonmeone pinching you really hard. so if your thinking of going paintball come to sgt. splatters or if you live some where up north go to area 51.

If i could accomplish this i could have a very successful future, and a great education. The main thing on how being smart here is being organized. My mom told me that and she's successful. So if you want to be successful be organized.

My Recent Dream

Article posted January 11, 2009 at 09:39 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 138

I had the strangest dream ever. It was an early bright summers day in Toronto and i was driving with some random man who i never met. We were driving around town and suddenly we hit a dog on the road. And it made the strangest yelp. It sounded likea ladley scream except with a little dog voice in it. Then somehow i teleport to this burnt up, exploded world. So i adventure around for a bit, then suddenly out of nowhere this Raptor (Dinosaur) was charging at me and i think it wanted to eat me. So i don't know how this happened but i move away, and then a cliff apeared randomly and he falls off it. Then i see this man yelling at me to climb up the scafull and help him fisk something. So i make my way up, then the hole intire this collapses and i on hot rocks and wake up.
