Overseas friends project reflection

Article posted June 10, 2008 at 02:42 AM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 773

So far I have tried contacting 24 overseas students with little success. Only one student has replied to one of my comments. His name is Jacob and he is a year 8 in Mr Myers class. The good thing about this project is that we get to communicate with people from overseas. The major bad thing is that we are getting marked on this. It all depends on if a student from overseas has the time or if they can be bothered to reply. I had only a 4.16% comment return rate. In my view a student should not be marked on a project where only 50% of the requirements are within their control. if no one replies to your comments it makes it very difficult to get a good mark. Overall in my opinion as a student this project is heavily flawed. I am happy to have the opportunity to communicate with someone new but i believe it is unfair to be marked on it.

The dangers of the internet

Article posted April 22, 2008 at 02:44 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 269

The internet has many dangers because when one is connected to the internet you are open to attack. When you are on the internet your computers security is at its weakest because there is an opening to the world. While you are happily surfing the net there may be someone attacking your computer infecting it with viruses and trying to get you personal details. The internet is a dangerous place if your computer is unprotected and even if it is there is still a chance that something may slip through.

Term 1 reflection

Article posted March 20, 2008 at 01:13 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 215

I am happy with how I’ve done in this class this term. I have handed in all but one piece of work that just needs checking before submitting it. I enjoyed the work we have done in I.T and i found the work only a little challenging. My favourite piece of work that we did was or animations i think i did really well. my least favourite piece of work was our boring photo project. In this class i have learnt a bit about animation and the way i can present work. Overall i have had fun in this class.

In IT at the moment we're making movies. Mines about a cow that gets left behind on its way to a new paddock. It's a little jumpy but i'm trying to make the motion flow smothly. I'll get there eventually but all i can do at the moment is try.

My first three weeks back at GHS

Article posted February 19, 2008 at 12:16 AM GMT0 • comment (8) • Reads 186

My first three weeks at school have been great for me. I’ve had little homework and I am enjoying my classes. Wood would have to be my favourite subject that I am studying. At the moment we are making a trinket box and a teapot stand in wood. To make the teapot stand we are using the lathe. Most of my subjects are easy though I wish I had some of them next semester instead. In English we are reading ‘Tomorrow when the war began’ by John Marsden. It’s great, I’m reading it for the third time. It’s about a group of teenagers who go camping in the bush for the week. When they come back they find that no one at home. They discover that their country has been invaded and all their family and friends are being held prisoner. This is one of my favourite books. The only class in not enjoying so far is VCD. At the moment I’m finding it boring but hopefully it will pick up. I have enjoyed my first 3 weeks.
