I Am From . . .
I am from the coldness of my uncle’s sword, sitting upon our wooden cupboard and from the taste of magic stars and coco pops rocks. I am from the giant trees at school and the roof where kids play, from the pain of the battles I have been in and from the betrayal of friends who added to the large enemy side. I am from the bowls at home of all sizes and hues and from the tables I broke.
I am from the school and all its lessons, from teachers who inspired me to strive and learn, from the amazing books I read, and the novellas I wrote. I am from video games that helped me with being strategic. I am from all of the equations and questions I solved, from the chances I missed, and the ones I got. I am from the poems by all sorts of poets, like the one I’m writing now.
I am from the single, unknown being that created all life, the one who created the genesis, and the one who one day will give it the apocalypse. I am from his strength, his wisdom, his power. I am from the Koran and all of its holy paragraphs. I am from he who has brought men, women, love, hatred, idiocy, wisdom, war, peace, life, death, sophistication, savagery, oceans, continents, towns, cities, planets, space, and everything in the solar systems. I am from Allah.
I am from the joy and sorrow, the happiness and the woe, the strength and weakness, the love and the hatred, the fear and the courage, the luxury and the punishment, the pride and the pain, I am from the wonderful childhood of CENSORED.

لم أذهب إلى الرملية. لعبت في البيت. لعبت كثيراً على الحاسوب. أحضرت مثلجات لإبني إختي،غازي وعلي. علي 2 سنتان وغازي 4 سنوات. وأحضرت مثلجات لإبنة إختي الثانية، إلِانة، وهي تبلغ السنتين.

Dear Mom and Dad:
I need to raise seven dollars. The reason is that my class is going to plant some trees and we supply the currency, namely dollars. Now, to obtain the payment, I suggest that I should clean the tables, which I have become good at from cleaning the tables at the end of art time. Also, I will make my own bed. Plus, if that wasn’t enough, I will also clean my dishes! Yes, all this can be yours for just one dollar a day! The reasons why I need to buy and plant trees are several.
One reason is the environment. Trees will give us oxygen. We need oxygen to breath. Trees give us oxygen by cleaning air which will help other trees grow, giving even more oxygen, causing a chain reaction that will keep the air clear for an amazingly long time. Plus, trees are part of many important ecosystems.
Also, trees will add beauty to Lebanon. The majesty of a full grown tree is utterly, amazingly, awe-inspiring. They will also attract birds, which will add even more beauty. Along with the birds, insects will “bee” attracted, and that means more bee honey and more butterfly beauty!
Also, pine trees are very useful for people. Their cones can be used to tell the weather! Also, pine nuts are an income for some people and a protein source for others. Along with the money and the food, trees give us paper. Plus they also give us wood, which is an ever so amazing resource.
So, to sum everything up, I need seven dollars to plant trees and help Lebanon!

Dear Minister of Energy:
A topic I believe quite strongly in is that the use of solar energy should be increased. I believe it is an astonishing power source that is used all too little.
Increased use of solar energy will decrease pollution. There will be no smoke at all. Also, empty gas cans will be things of the past, as we will need no gas cans, since, well, there will be no gas. Not only that, but since there will be no gas, it would not be possible to spill any.
Another reason is that increase use will stop global warming. Doing that might fix the ozone layer. If it doesn’t stop global warming, it is sure to decrease it. Also, by stopping global warming, it will, by association, stop the melting of polar ice caps.
Last but not least, my final reason is the oil crisis. Solar energy could stop that. Plus, solar energy is a renewable energy source. It could also slow down weathering, erosion and deposition, because you won’t need to dig for oil.
In conclusion, my strong belief in solar energy had driven me to write this letter and I hope that it leads to extended use of solar energy.
