We have been reading the books of this great author, and it's time for our first blog assignment!
Choose your favorite book by Chris Van Allsburg, and then post a comment to this article.
Tell us which book is your favorite, and write at least three things that you like about the book. Then tell what you think is the theme or message of the book.
It will be fun to see what different people think about the same book! Blog on!

You have all grown so much as readers, and I love to read your great thoughts. You can keep visiting our blog and wiki as long as you want. Be sure to include the following:
-Title and Author
-A little bit about the book, but don't retell the whole story.
-One thing you liked about the book.
-Who you think would like to read this book. (mystery lovers? animal lovers? etc.)

Now that we have all finished our biography projects, think about the person you studied. Imagine that this person could visit you for a day.
Add a comment below, and answer these questions.
Who did you study?
What would you do together if this person came to visit you?
What would you ask this person?
Do you think you would become friends?
Have fun, and blog on!

Dear boys and girls,
It's hard to believe that we've already reached Thanksgiving time, and soon we'll have the excitement of the holidays in December. You have been such great bloggers, and I love to read your conversations about your reading.
We have been studying the books of Chris Van Allsburg, one of my favorite authors. For your next blog assignment, please post a comment about one of his books that you have read. Tell us the title and what you thought was interesting about the book. Did you notice any similarities between it and any of his other books?
It should be interesting to read your ideas about the work of this great author.

Boys and girls, it's easy to see how much you love to read. This year, my goal is to help you become a better reader by learning how to think more about what you are reading. Our Literature Circles will help you with this.
Here's your first blog assignment:
We just read Zen Shorts in class and discussed what lesson about life the author was trying to teach us. Add a comment to this article that tells something that you thought was interesting in the book.
I'm looking forward to reading your thoughts!

It's hard to believe our year in third grade is over already! We have learned and grown so much.
For our last blog assignment, please add a comment to this article. Tell us what you thought was the most exciting thing you learned. How did technology (blog, wiki, SMARTBoard, portaportals) make learning better for you? What advice would you give to next year's class?
I can't wait to read your replies. Thanks for a wonderful year together.
Love,
Mrs. Harper
