snow day

Wow, did we ever get a lot of snow over the weekend! The buses weren't able to drive through the streets and many students couldn't come to school on Monday. Look how many students came to our class! We were a small but mighty group.

taste 001
We have been studying the five senses. Today we had a little taste test to try some foods that are salty, sweet, sour & bitter. We ate popcorn, a cookie, a lemon & unsweetened chocolate. Can you guess which one was our favourite?

Parable of the Yeast

Article posted January 13, 2010 at 10:04 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 75

We listened to a story that Jesus told the people. He explained that the kingdom of heaven is like growing yeast. Many of us had not watched yeast is action, so our class made bread. We were amazed at how large our loaf of bread grew! And we especially loved eating the bread. YUMMY!

Some students from our school were selected to carry the Olympic torch. What an honour! Our entire school went outside to cheer them on... even though the temperatures were in the -30s with the windchill!

Miss Mondor has been teaching us about the earth. We've really enjoyed working at different centers about rocks. We keep track of everything that we learn in our science journals.

celebration
This week we joined other elementary classrooms at the church. Miss Cey explained the different areas of the church and the parts of the mass. Some of us even got to see our names written in the baptismal register. Then we had a special celebration to celebrate our faith.
