We were a lucky bunch of students today! Four players from our local Warriors hockey team came to read to us. We listened to a "Brady, Brady" story and then got some autographed bookmarks.

The grade ones are learning about God's creation. They each brought something to show what has God made. After we discussed these items, Mrs. Lichtenwald introduced us to our new class pet. It is also something made by God - a goldfish named Waffles! (We voted on the name!)

It may have been a short week, but we have been busy! The grade ones and twos have been learning about classroom rules and how to use our materials. Here's a quick peek at what we've been up to.

We are reading machines!!! All of our hard work has really paid off this year! Our classroom won a toasted sub sandwich party from Quiznos. Thanks to Julie from our local Quiznos restuarant for donating the tasty treats!

We went to the art museum this afternoon but ended up with some extra time at the end. We wandered through the city park and saw some amazing sights! The students were thrilled to see "real live" mallard ducks. We were even lucky enough to watch a mother with her ducklings. The students were quite concerned that some families were feeding the ducks bread because we learned that bread can give birds a stomach ache. They were intent to find seeds and bugs so they could offer the ducks a proper snack! We ended our time at the park by playing on the playground. Stay tuned for photos of the art musuem. The project is a secret!

One of our classmates was doing a butterfly project at home. Today his mom brought his butterflies to school so that we could release them into nature. It was pretty exciting!

Do you ever stare at the sky to watch the clouds? We do! We can see all kinds of objects in the sky if we use our imaginations. To celebrate the sky, we've completed a "little cloud" project in our classroom. Everyone painted a picture of a cloud that turns into a special shape. Then we wrote stories about our clouds. If you drop by the school, you will be able to see all of our clouds hanging in the hallway!

Last week we had the pleasure of listening to a First Nations' singer. We even got to try his drum and do some dancing! He told us a story about Mother Earth sending up the little flowers in the spring. He chose a few lucky students to act out the flowers as he told the story!
