The blog I connected to was Hakon's blog. My connection is My spring vacation. My spring vacation was great, I did amazing things. I played Wii the first day, I played super Mario bros. on the Wii The next day I went swimming at my grandpa’s pool, my uncle had a diving board that was very high. The third day I had a nerf gun battle,I won the battle (That was very fun!).The fourth day I went to see a show called circ du soleil. The fifth day I went out for dinner at Applebee’s. The sixth day I went to see the movie the Three Stooges. The seventh day I stayed home to watch TV and relax.



I played Super Mario Bros. with my cousins one the first day of vacation. I had my whole family over at my house. When I was playing I realized that one of the wii remotes have ran out of battery, we couldn’t play anymore so we called it a day.



On the second day my whole family met at my uncle’s pool. We had a contest of who can go the deepest,I actually hit the floor. I stayed at my uncle’s pool until 11:00pm. I was soaked and wrinkled.



On the third day I had a nerf gun battle with my cousins, we shot each other with foam darts.We each had 3 lives. I used the smallest one and I won. After the nerf gun battle I thought it was getting late so we all went home.



The fourth day of vacation I went to see a show called circ du soleil. I was confused at first because they did not talk, but then i realized that they used motions to express their feelings. At the end I learned that you don’t have to talk to communicate.



On the fifth day I went to Applebee’s for dinner. I had macaroni and cheese with chocolate milk, my side was french fries. We stayed there until 12:00 (midnight).

I was pooped when I got home.



On the sixth day I went to go see the movie The three stooges. I thought it was so funny because of the way they acted. It was also hilarious because there were cartoon special effects and they acted like they did not have a brain.



On the seventh day I stayed home to watch TV. I also had some snacks to eat while watching TV.

 

One really interesting place in New York that I want everyone to know about is Times Square.  People from all around the world come to New York because of this famous place. There is lots to do in Times Square.

One reason people come to New York is to celebrate New Years Eve. Times square is the site of the annual New Years eve ball drop since 1907. On that night about one million people come to Times Square to party, celebrate and watch the Waterford Crystal ball drop to mark the start of new year.

Another reason why Times Square is famous is that it is home to the world famous Broadway theater district.  Visitors can see a variety of plays and shows at one of 40 theaters that seat 500 or more people. Times Square is the world's most visited tourist attraction, bringing in over 39,000,000 visitors annually.

A third reason why Times Square is an awesome place is because you can go shopping at almost any hour.  There are many different kinds of stores.  Many kids come from all over the world to visit Toys R Us.  This toy store is famous for the many attractions.  Visitors can take a ride on the 60-foot Ferris wheel, hear the roar of the life-sized T-Rex dinosaur or visit the real life 4,000 square-foot Barbie dollhouse.I was in the toys r us, I was amazed there was a T-rex that was huge, a ferris wheel that was the biggest one I saw. My mom told me i could only get one thing, I wanted everything! Once I started I did not stop. I thought for a second, I made up my mind. what I wanted was... to come here again. I did not want to leave Times Square. It is a truly riveting experience.

Everyone needs family

Everyone needs family. Family can support us and care for us. In the book Bud, Not Buddy, Bud needs a family, but does not have a family at the beginning of the book.



Everybody needs family so that they can have someone believe in them. Bud was placed with a foster family, the Amoses, but they did not treat him well. An example of this is when Todd beat up Bud and lied about it, Mr.Amos locked Bud in the shed. This is why Bud decided to run away.

 

Everybody needs family so they they can have a home. If Bud had a home, he would not have to carry around all his belongings. Bud always carried his suit case. It contained a blanket,a tobacco bag that he kept rocks in, a picture of his mom and flyers of the Dusky Devastators. Everything in the suitcase belonged to his mom and they were important to her. Bud thinks that the flyers are a clue to finding his father.

Everybody needs family to feel safe and loved. Bud felt safe when his mom was around, for example, when Bud talked about his memories of his conversations with his mom, it shows that she loved him. When his mom tells him about his name, it shows that she loved him. “A bud is a flower in waiting. Waiting for just the right warmth and care to open up. It’s a little fist of love waiting to unfold and be seen by the world. And that’s you.”



Everybody needs family to take care of basic needs like food and shelter. For example: After Bud leaves the library he falls asleep under a tree (page 59). If Bud had a home, he would not have to sleep under a tree.



Everyone needs family to feel like they belong. On page 78, Bud says “someone who doesn’t know who there is, is like dust blowing around in a storm, they don’t really belong any one place.” “I might not know who my family was but I knew they were out there somewhere…” This proves that Bud wants to belong to a family, he wants to find his family.



Everyone needs family to feel safe and loved, to have a home and food and shelter and to feel like they belong. In the end, Bud finds his grandfather and finally has a sense of belonging to everyone who lives at Grand Calloway Station.



 

Black Panthers were native to mso-bidi-font-family:Arial">Long Island back when mso-bidi-font-family:Arial">Long Island was less developed and the area was less populated. The Black Panther’s habitats include the rainforest, marshland, woodlands, swamps, savannahs, and even mountains and deserts. The natural habitats for the Black Panthers no longer exist in Long Island because the humans cut down the trees to develop the area and humans killed the Black Panthers.

Black Panthers are mainly carnivores and their food includes various species of mammals, reptiles, and birds. Black Panthers preyed mainly on deer before they became extinct on Long Island. Now the deer have no predators and the deer population is out of control. 

The over population of deer on mso-bidi-font-family:Arial">Long Island has also changed the ecosystem of the forests.  The deer feed on saplings and shrubs.   Some forests on Long Island have been killed because of the deer over feeding on the plants.

The deer have affected the humans by adapting to our environment and feeding on our fields, orchards, lawns and gardens.  This affects the human food supply.

Humans are now hunting the deer to help control the population.

This could have been different if we had kept some natural habitat areas for the Black Panthers on Long Island mso-bidi-font-family:Arial"> so that the food chain could be have been balanced.

Hopes And Dreams

It’s a new school year and I have goals for the year. One of them is to become a better student. How I can become a better student is pay attention in class, work harder and improve on homework. Another goal is to become a better reader. How I can make that goal happen is to read every night, practice by read lots of fantasy and try gradually harder books. Another goal is to become better at cursive. How I can make that is to slant my page more and to write neater. I hope I can achieve those goals.
