This year has been pretty fun. It was probably the hardest academically, but it was fun. I learned about Greece in Humanities, algebra in Algebra, poems in Language Arts, and the human body in science. What I would change would be the homework. We got a lot of homework compared to in 6th grade. In 8th grade, I want to have as much fun as I did this year. Looking back, I was a little hy to some people that I didn't know. Now, they are my friends and I talk to them a lot. For the incoming 7th graders, have fun=http:// The year goes by way faster when you're having fun. Try doing some sports you couldn't do last year, like football and basketball. 7th grade wll be fun if you make it fun.

International Towne was pretty boring. I was the president of Ghana and I didn't do much. I took over for the customs agent when she was on her break, and that's it. It rea;;y would have been more fun if I had something to do. It seemed like every president was just sitting around while everyone else worked. Also, I didn't really see the cultural piece in doing this. I learned maybe one or two facts that I will actually remember for a while. Other than those two facts, I didn't learn much at I-Towne. The best part about it was being a judge. We got cool wigs and took criminal's money. If there is one thing I could change about I-Towne, it would be the break times. Like I said, I didn't do much, so if I had longer break times, I would have been less bored.

My guiding question was: What was the signifigance of the toga in Ancient Rome? I learned that the toga showed citizenship and respect in Rome. Also, although togas look like they would be fun to wear (I was really excited to wear mine), they were a burden to Romans. They were very hot and hard to put on. When I looked at other people's projects, I learned some new facts. For example, I never knew that was a curse on King Tut's tomb. It was very intresting to read about an old myth. It was really fun doing the World History Fair. I learned a lot about togas that I would probably have never known.

"Seed Folks" isn't a very good book, in my opinion. The format of it is new to me, so it's hard to find a character I like the most and least. It's pretty cool how the author made the book so that each character was connected by the garden. It was unique of her to do this, but it made the book not so good. The activities for "Seed Folks" were a little boring. It seemed more like work than fun for the tomato plants in science. For math, it was fun making butterflies and flowers. It's not something I would normally do and I felt goofy doing it, but it was pretty fun. It was like we were back in KinderGarten.

For my World History Fair project, I decided to ask, 'What is the signifigance of the toga in Rome?' I thought this would be fun because togas are cool. I have learned togas show respect and citizenship in Rome. So far, I have done the Process Statement, Conclusion, and some facts about togas. I have my 3D visual done and I just need to add a few more facts to my trifold. I feel like I have done a good job on my project and I deserve an A.

It's sad how cruel the world can be. Just because someone is different, it doesn't make them any less of a human being. Ernest "Ernie" Green tried to tell the world this when he graduated from an all-white school. People around the world watched as he, and fellow African-American students, were bullied in high school just because of their heritage. They did nothing at all, yet everyone hated them. It is nice to know that this discrimination has gone away over the years, but it is sad how cruel we used to be. What we could take away from watching the Little Rock 9 is that no matter what color your skin is, or what is in your heritage, you can make a difference.

The Chicken Wing

It was really weird when we dissected the chicken wing. We eat chicken wings all the time, but we never really take a really long look at it. It was really weird seeing how the muscles and ligaments and joints work. It is basically what goes on in your own body, but from a chicken wing. I'm glad we were able to do it because in a few weeks, we will be dissecting frogs, which would probably gross me out if it weren't for dissecting the chicken wing.

In science, we are learning about cells and what are in them. There are little organ-like things called organelles. They do functions in the cell a lot like organs do for our bodies. Also, we learned the differences between animal cells, plant cells, and bacteria cells. For example, plant cells have little things called chloroplasts which exchange solar energy and water for air and sugar, which the plant uses to feed itself. The best part of the cell unit was looking at the protists from under a microscope. What I didn't like doing was taking all those notes. We wrote two or three pages of notes for the test. We learned a lot about cells.

On Sunday night, the New England Giants went up against the New York Giants in Super Bowl 46. It was pretty clear who would win at the beginning of the game. After a safety and a touchdown, the Giants led 9-0. Then, the Patriots scored a field goal, then a touchdown. This made the game 9-10 at halftime. Soon after, the Patriots scored another touchdown while the Giants scored two field goals, making it 15-17. With one minute left in the 4th, the Giants ran the ball in for a touchdown, making the score 21-17. In the end, the Giants were Super Bowl champions. After a long season, football was over.

Poetic Tools

Poets like to use different tools in each of their writing pieces. These tools can be used for emphasizing on something, or maybe to make the poem fun. One of these poetic tools is rhyme. Rhyme is where words at the end of a line have the same-sounded ending. It can make poems fun or just easier to understand. There is also alliteration. Alliteration is where the poet uses the same consonant sounds in words. This can emphasize on a certain topic the poet is talking about. There are also onomatopeias. Onomatopeias are words which are sounds too. For example, 'moo' is the word for the sound cows make. It sounds just like how cows make it sound. The point is, poets use many tools to change their poem into something meaningful, or just something silly. It may be as simple as rhyming 'cat' with 'hat', but it can really change the feel of a poem.

What Theodore Roosevelt is saying is that if you believe, you can achieve (I did not mean for that to rhyme). This can be applied to my life because I believe I can have fun everyday. It doesn't sound like much, but it really does work. Have you seen me before?! I'm always HAPPY! It can make a positive change because, whenever I'm sad, I get happy because I know I can. If the president or prime minister used my logic of it, they would really fun even when their country is in danger. Which might not be a good thing, but it would definitely effect the world. The point is, if you believe you can be happy, you can.

During the year of 2012, I want to lose weight. I did well on that during 2011, and I want to continue to do that throughout 2012, too. Also, I want to make other people happy! I did VERY well on that in 2011, (with the exception of my brother, Blake) and I want to continue making people happy! Happy 2012=http:// :D

I think the poetry wiki was pretty easy, but was a little frustrating at times when people didn't do their work. Our page is really good, but one person still has to add to it. She hasn't really done much in a while, so I don't know if she will get it done. What we have done is good, though, so I'm not worried. If we do it again, I think it would be easier if the person in Louisiana talked more on the Discussion Tab. She talked at the beginning, but stopped halfway through the project. Also, I would add some more information on the page. Other than that, this was a pretty easy and fun project.

I don't know much about Greece, but I do know that it is mainly based off of the many gods and godesses they believed in. Each and every thought they had was based off of the gods.
In Humanities, we are doing a Greek simulation to see which polis would win out of Megara, Argos, Corinth(which I'm in), Sparta, and Athens. They will all compete for points, and that's pretty much all we know so far. They can either gain or lose points depending on how well they do. The points will determine the winner at the end. Will it be Megara, Argos, Corinth, Sparta, or Athens?

I read Natalie's blog and she says that Santa Claus is real. I say there is no proof. Sure there are presents when you wake up on Christmas morning, but who says it was Santa? It could be some wierd dude who likes giving kids presents and getting free cookies. Comment what you believe.

The best mystery book (or book series) of all time would have to be the Sherlock Holmes stories. They are all surprising and detailed, plus, you can make pretty good stories based on them. The one I like the most would be "The Speckled Band". I read it for the first time in 4th grade for a school project. I haven't read many others since, but from the ones I have read, they are a a really good series.
For the mystery story in language arts, I am making a 'Kerlock Holms' story that is pretty good. I think it has a good base for it, that can be changed into numerous outcomes. First of all, Kerlock finds out that there is a zombie in England. Then, he finds out that there is a zombie scientist who went to the same high school as the victim. Surprisingly, the zombie scientist dies, therefore eliminating the prime suspect. From there, you can make anything happen. You can a great story out of that. That's why Sherlock Holmes books are so good, they can give you ideas for a great story.

I am glad to be able to have so many things I have today. Without iPods, or cell phones, or computers, I wouldn't have as much fun as I do. I get to talk to friends, watch funny things, even listen to music. I am thankful for it, just like I am thankful for having great friends and family. Without them, I wouldn't have any fun at all.

What do you do with your mistakes? Do you just forget them and put them behind you? No, you remember your mistakes so you don’t make the same one. Everyone does. If you forget your mistakes, you’ll make the same mistake over and over again. That’s why it’s always important to remember your mistakes. So you don’t always make the same. We, as Americans will always remember some mistakes we have made as a country.

I think the blogging would be better if people commented and actually read articles more. Not many people really comment on people's blogs. In total, I have 11 comments. 9 of which are on one blog. It would be more exciting if people commented. I'm not saying I want it to be needed, I'm just saying blogs are a little boring now that nobody is commenting. If you see this, you should comment on it.

Turkey Earthquake

On Sunday, October 23rd, the country of Turkey(not Thanksgiving turkey) suffered a massive earthquake. It was scaled at 7.2 magnitude and the death toll is almost at 300. Over 1,300 people have been injured so far. Also, many people lost their homes. It may take months to get a descent living facility back. I think we are lucky we don't have many natural disasters like that here. We get a great home and education while people them are suffering.

The latest book I read is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Its about a girl named Kattnis who must fight in a competition against 23 other people for her life. The competition is called The Hunger Games and is for the entertainment of the country. It sounds cruel and saddening but has a lot of funny parts to it. That is why it is one of my favorite books. It sounds like it will just have sadness and killing in it, but it has a lot of comedy to it. It is a book that shocks you a lot.

At Fox Run Park, my favorite thing we did was play keep-away after the activities were over. Honestly, I didn't really enjoy the activities much. But the one I liked the best was... well, I didn't really have one. Each of the activities were pretty much things we have done in recent years. One thing I learned was that elephants use camouflage. The color on their bodies can not be easily seen through bushes and trees. Overall, I think the Fox Run Park field trip was pretty much like recess. Fun if you aren't forced to do stuff.

I'm glad we, as Americans, can read what we want, when we want to. One of the books on the banned book list, "The Hunger Games", is actually my favorite book. I almost never read and I still stayed up until midnight reading it. It sounds sort of nerdy but it is a REALLY good book.

These "geniuses" show they aren't completely empty-minded, but, there is an easy way of proving them wrong. If you try adding 7 together 13 times using their method your answer would be 104. That proves that this method doesn't work. Another pair of numbers this does work for is 3 times 18. As shown in the videos, 6) 36 (15. 6 doesn't go into 3, but it goes into 6 once(that is where you get the 1 in 15). The 6 in 36 minus 6 is 0. You bring the 3 from 36 down it is 30. 6 goes into 30, 5 times(that's where the 5 in 15 comes from), so 36 divided by 6 is 15.

The funniest and strangest thing that has happened to me is when a "Lite Brite" got stuck in my nose.(Lite Brites are tiny bulbs of colored light you put into holes, making them light up). I was about three years old and playing with "Lite Brites" with Blake, my brother, when I thought it would be funny to stick a "Lite Brite" in my nose. The tiny light bulb didn't light up, but it did get stuck. My dad tried using tweezers to get it out but it just wouldn't work. So then we went to the emergency room and the doctor got it out. After that, I never played with "Lite Brites" again.

I think Rachel's Challenge this year was a lot better than last year. Last year, they focused too much on the actual shooting. This year, however, they focused a lot more on Rachel. They really focused on how she knew she would die young and make a difference. She really made a huge difference for all of the communities and schools seeing these presentations. She will always be known for changing lives by being kind. This affects me because Rachel showed one act of kindness can change a life.
