There is alot of words in the English language...  Some most people do not use.  There are also some that are used all the time.  What word do you think is the most commonly used?  If  you say um then that is a good guess but you are incorrect.  

     The is the most commonly  used word in the English language.  In almost every sentence you hear the word the.  I am sure you think nothing of it.  I am sure you never wonder about the most commonly used word is.  If you do here are the facts...

Above is a list of the first 100 most commonly used words.  The Reading Teachers Book of Lists claims that the first 25 words make up about one third of all printed material in English. All of them make up about one half of all written material.
