My poems
Opposite Poems
Being Sad
What’s the opposite of being sad?
Is it being happy, or maybe glad?
How ‘bout playing with toys that you had got,
While playing in your car in a parking lot?
Maybe hugging your parents and showing your love,
Or playing nicely with your pet dove?
Is it swimming and diving into a pool,
And shouting, screaming and feeling cool.
Space
What’s the opposite of being up in space?
Is it having your feet ground firmly in a place?
Or being on a boat going out to sea,
Or rafting waters and yelling WEEEE!
Maybe sitting in a car and getting gas,
And waiting for the trip to be over at last.
But me, I’d rather run a 10-mile race,
And never, EVER go up into space.
Color Poems
Red
Red is the color of fury and frustration.
It looks like bloodshed and war,
But it’s also the color of poppies in a field.
Red can be the color of fire and warmth,
And sounds like merry laughter.
It smells like fire cooking in a cookout.
Sometimes, it looks like fresh paint on a wall,
And like a ladybug on a leaf.
Red is the color of bloodshot eyes
Of someone who has cried too much.
Finally, it’s the color of a Stop sign.
Black
Black is the color of tarmac on a road.
It is the color of people, who have been discriminated against
and it’s the color of a tuxedo suit.
Black is the color nutritious soil.
It’s also the color of a grim future.
Black is the color of bullets
And of death and destruction
It’s the color of smoky plumes
and of some peoples hair.
Black smells like a black permanent marker.
