April Poems (Again!)

Red

Red is a bullet going straight through your heart

And the fire waiting at your doorstep.

Red is the traffic STOP sign

And a strawberry with coated sugar melting in your mouth.

Red are the devils waiting at the entrance of hell

And innocent blood being spilt on the marble shined floor

Red is a stake through the heart

And the conflicts at your economy’s life

Red is the prickly roses on your hand

And the nosebleed we all once felt.

April Poems

Graved

What’s the opposite of the one you love being graved?

Is it the on you love being saved

Or perhaps a cheerful summer

Not having such a bummer

Maybe just holding their hand once more

Not letting them be cold and sore.

Silent

What’s the opposite of being silent?

Is it being loud and violent

Or is it disobeying your mother’s rule

Or not giving up without a duel

Maybe a scream a laugh or shout

Digging out a wormy trout

Honking cars in a rowdy world

Or having to throw up or hurling

Black

Black is the ghost of the past

Black is the loss of a loved one

Black is being locked up in a pitch dark room

Black is a paper full of mistakes

Black is the never ending laughter of evil

Black is being lost in space

Black is your nightmare coming to life

Black is the licorice in your mouth

Or the black that comes out of my dad’s cigarettes.

One

I have one paper
I have one pen
I have one voice
I have one life to live
No more no less shall it be
The world is out of love
The pen is out of ink
My heart is out of blood
***
One dead is a tragedy
100 dead is a statistic
One dead 300 dead
How more shall it be?
Your eye cannot see
How murder makes life
And how life makes murder

IWD

Article posted March 13, 2011 at 12:54 PM GMT+2 • comment • Reads 450

It is March 8, 2011 I just came back from school, I looked at my Email there was a message from my mom that asked me: It is Internationals Women’s Day do you want to go for hot chocolate? And talk about it @ a café?” Boring I thought then I said give it a try so I did. When we went to the café she pulled out an article about IWD [Internationals Women’s Day] I read it and found out that IWD is not that boring. I also found out new information like women produce 80% of the work over the devolving countries but only get 10 % of the land! And just because of gender women are not taking higher positions and are also treated very badly. Women are scared to be sidelined again even after the revolution, they are scared because the army of Egypt still didn’t say anything about it, then we went to see a documentary about Internationals Women’s Day. It was called “Kulina Lil Watan “by Carol Mansur. At the beginning I almost fell asleep, and then it caught my attention that it is really tough to be those people. There was a woman who couldn’t afford her children after the father died so she sent them to an orphanage!

Today is legend
Tomorrow is full of sorrow
Yesterday was history
by the way not victory

Today is legend
Tomorrow is full of sorrow
Yesterday was history
By the way not victory

Today is legend that tells
The story of tomorrow
Without all the sorrow
Of yesterday that was history
By the way not victory

Iraqi Kurdistan

Article posted November 12, 2010 at 10:08 AM GMT+2 • comment • Reads 1075

I have been studying about Iraqi Kurdistan. And these are 5 of them.

  1. Arbil is the second largest city in Iraq

  2. Their Natural Resources: they have are oil and cement

  3. They live in mountain ranges and herd sheep

  4. Iraqi Kurdistan is bordered by Iran to the east, Turkey to the north, Syria to the west.

  5. The capital of it is Arbil.

I am still curious to learn about how they learn to read and write. And the population.
