The ES International Fair is coming soon, on June 8th, to the Green Field.
The Parent’s Committee is organizing this event, and are including the song ‘We Are The World’ by Michael Jackson in their program. This is a sing-a-long for everyone; students, parents and faculty to share, in celebration of our community and our place in the world. We are making these videos and the lyrics available so that we’ll all be ready to join in with full voices and high spirits. Enjoy!
We are the World
(Written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie)
There comes a time when we heed a certain call
When the world must come together as one
There are people dying
And it’s time to lend a hand to life
The greatest gift of all
We can't go on pretending day by day
That someone, somehow will soon make a change
We are all a part of Gods great big family
And the truth, you know,
Love is all we need
[Chorus]
We are the world, we are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let’s start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
Its true we'll make a better day
Just you and me
Send them your heart so they'll know that someone cares
And their lives will be stronger and free
As God has shown us by turning stones to bread
So we all must lend a helping hand
[Chorus]
When you're down and out, there seems no hope at all
But if you just believe there's no way we can fall
Let us realize that a change can only come
When we stand together as one
[Chorus: x2]

A message from Dr. Damon was sent to all of the faculty at ACS. Let's all try to help! If you have trouble with the link below, let me know.
Help by just watching: Every time someone new views this link, a donation is made to help reopen schools for girls closed due to the war in Pakistan, up to $5,000. Really, that is all they ask. Just watch, and a donation is made. http://bit.ly/HoshyarHelp

Please click on the "Post a sticky" on the image below to go to the WallWisher. Then, add a note -- your 3 favorite things about the camping trip.
All you need to do is click on the word Anonymous and add your section and initials (5A-BB), then type your comment. Full sentences are NOT necessary. I'm curious to see what your three favorite things are. Click OK to save your posting.

I love playing computer games while watching TV. I only stop playing the games during mystery shows.
Before I go to bed at night, I play a couple of rounds of backgammon with my husband. I am currently ahead!
I graduated from the oldest boarding school in the United States; it was founded in 1744.
Among the alumni are two of the 56 original signers of the 1776 Declaration of Independence - Benjamin Rush and Richard Stockton.
I have lived half my life in the US and half my life in the Middle East.
When I read a really good book, I find it hard to stop until I'm finished with the book. Once I read all day, all night, and all the next day, so I could finish the book. Then I cried for weeks because it was so sad, and it was over.
We finally have a doggie in the house! Mr. Bean has been a total pleasure, since joining us in February 2010.

Dr. Damon is the head of our school. He has shared 7 random facts with us. If you want to read more about him and his philosophy, check out our ACS website. Headmaster's Philosophy

All ES teachers and students are registered for the World Education Games. Attached is your child’s individual log-in and password; it works for both games. Online practice is available from now until the actual “Day”. Participating in the competition is not really stressed, but practicing math skills is encouraged.
This site also opens up the world of geography to the children, as they play against students from around the world. Basic information on each country is also provided.
We’ll be accessing the games from school, at times, but certainly are hoping the students will be accessing from home too! Enjoy!!

This is more than challenging for many, but for you 4th graders, it shouldn't be too hard. You've been studying different countries in the Middle East all year. I don't know if you'll call itfun, but I did. I love this kind of game.
Simply drag the country's name onto the map. There is no score or time limit. This is a learning tool.Don't be afraid to make an error, try again [and again, if need be!] and once you have finished the puzzle you will be far more educated about this very intense part of our world."

As you know, our 3, 4, and 5th graders (plus middle school grades) take MAP tests. The scores are given in a RIT number. A wonderful teacher, Mr. Fraser, has made a list of links to games that help in improving RIT scores.
4th graders should be aiming for RIT scores between about 200 and 210. When you play the games from his site, please try to stay at your level. Enjoy!

Blog Communication Challenge!
Try to get new readers interested in your blog. There are a number of ways to do this.
You can tell friends to read your blog (and ask them to leave a comment).
You can tell family to read your blog (and ask them to leave a comment).
You can also go to classblogmeister.com and search for new and interesting blogs. (You can search by grade or location.)
When you find a cool blog, simply introduce yourself by leaving a comment. Maybe that person will reply. Make sure you leave your URL (uniform resource locator). Copy your individual blog address and paste it into the URL of your blog space.
For every new person you get to comment on your blog by January 7th, you will earn a point. For every person from another country you will get two points.
Have fun and good luck!!
