"Hi P4." Welcome back to school and to Term 3. I hope you all had a fantastic holiday break with your families and are now ready to get stuck into lots of hard work this term. We have a range of exciting events lined up. The main ones will be: Devon visiting in week 7 for our yearly sports exchange. We won overall when we visited them last year and we are out to do the same this year! We have a number of 'open days' this term where Year 6 students come and visit our school. You will take part in 3 Way Conferences in week 8. The big highlight will be our 'Variety Show' in week 10. This will involve the entire school with each class performing an item. The theme is 'Absolutely Fabulous in NZ' with a kiwiana focus.
Your jobs for this week are:
1. Reading - every night. 15/20min.
2. Spelling - words in notebook. Buddy test Friday.
3. Maths - times tables. Make up a set of tables cards to help you learn the tables you don't know. Use a favourite website to practise. Name the site you use.
4. 'Kiwiana' research. *Find out what kiwiana means.
*Use a page and draw as many of our national icons as you can. You can do this by hand or using the computer.
*Variety Show ideas: List a range of great kiwi music, artists, dance moves or acting ideas. We have 7/8 mins per class. Ask your families for ideas here too.
5. 'Star of the Week' is... "Lorna Macdonald".
**Remember to make a checklist with all of your homework tasks. This must be signed by you and a parent.
**Think about a class treat for everyone who completes their homework each week during this term. We will vote on this.
