The Year is Ending

Article posted June 22, 2010 at 02:59 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 1760

Fourth grade is almost over and this is what I would say about the year. I think that fourth grade is the best year I have ever had in elementary school so far! My favorite activity we did was making videos, like the song about New York. Also I think that every field trip we've been on better than the others. I liked how we acted out the American Revolution too. In fourth grade I learned a lot in sports and school. I also met a lot of new people in fourth grade. Somehow I liked to learn in fourth grade more than any other grade. Everything we learned about were interesting and fun. I don't think I will ever forget a year that was so much fun!

My Visit to Boston

Article posted May 18, 2010 at 01:26 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 321

I went to Boston on 5/15/10. I left the day after that. On the first day at Boston, I went on the Fredom Trail. The Freedom Trail I learned about the things we learned in school. Like the Boston Massacre and famous people. Also I went to a cementery where everybody who accomplished great things. I saw the grave of Samuel Adams, John Hancock, and the five people who died in the Boston Massacre. One of my favorite parts was the dome. Paul Revere made the top part golden. But people were afraid that the Japanese would bomb the dome since it was golden. So they covered the dome up with a large piece of clothe. Their plan worked. Everything was interesting and amazing. I was tired when we got to the hotel. The hotel was cool because we got free snacks. The next day, I woke up early to go to the pool. It was fun to swim. I got this ring that squirt water so I used it to shoot my cousin. After that, I went to my cousin's graduation from college. It was a long time. But it was awesome because it was the first graduation I've ever been to. After that, we all met each other and left Boston. We got home really late at night. I had to sleep right away because the next day was a school day.

We Are Independent!!!

Article posted May 13, 2010 at 12:25 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 1451

Dear King George,

It's unfair that you closed the ports. That was where we sold things to make money! You just don't care about us because you have all the power and money! I'm sure you wouldn't like it if you had to give us money. Also, it's not right for British troops to just stay in our houses. That's just like robbing a whole house! The next thing I want to complain about is the Boston Massacre. Why did your soldiers shoot at unarmed people?!!! All we're asking for is INDEPENDENCE!!!

I think I would've been brave to sign the Declaration because it would've taken a lot of bravery to let King George figure out that you complained to him. Also I would be brave because you would probably be risking your life for independence.

The State Test

Article posted April 26, 2010 at 09:16 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 1640

My advice is to not panic or get nervous. You should pretend it is just a test that isn't that important. Also you should study a little bit. You should get all the rest you could. You should eat well for breakfast too. That way, your brain will be up and running. My last thing to say is to believe that you'll get a good grade.

Arguments

Article posted April 21, 2010 at 10:26 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 1294

I once had an argument with someone. The fight was about him always bossing me around. I knew I was right because in some books the lesson is to never be too bossy

I kept on asking him to stop bossing me around. I was really angry at him. It made me feel like a slave when he told me what to do. So this time I didn't let him boss me around.

While I was asking him to stop bossing me around, he was ignoring me. He just kept telling me what to do.

Then he finally said he wouldn't boss me around anymore. But sometimes, if we were playing a game, we would lead each other around.

Report to the Principal's Office!

I am mostly like both Salem and Mr. Brimlow. I'm like Salem because I like to take things from my life to make a story. Just like she's writing whatever happens at school. I'm like Mr. Brimlow because I like to solve other people's problems. Also if there is something to be taken care of, and no one is there to do it, I would do it. Just like Mr. Brimlow brought the hamster home when Sunny didn't.

Writing Rules!

Article posted April 9, 2010 at 01:26 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 1527

To be a good writer, you should show, not tell like Ms. Thomas says. Also you should never write boring stories or you won't make the reader want to read more

If they want to be a better writer, they would have to learn to indent. Also they would have to learn to write interesting phrases. They would have to come up with good ideas for making stories.

I would tell them they could take ideas that have happened in their life to make realistic fiction stories. Also they could ask someone else for an idea so they would have an example how to write a story.

What I admire most about authors is that it takes so many years to make those books it seems like they never give up. If I was writing a book, I would've given up in a month. Also they come up with so many good ideas. I sometimes wonder how they come up with those ideas.

Our Wiki

Article posted March 25, 2010 at 10:00 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 1437

I think using this resource is really cool. Everyone could see what we've learned about. They could even learn from us. We could learn from them too by seeing if they changed something on our wiki.

When we finish our Public Service Announcements, I think we should put them on Youtube, our wiki and blog. That way, almost everyone can see them.

I hope I will accomplish to stop worrying about anything that I'll do or say wrong. I know that everyone makes mistakes once in a while.

I would like to learn how to set up your station for making a video.

The Tears of Pearl Harbor

Article posted March 11, 2010 at 11:08 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 230

Over President's Week, I went to Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. It was interesting, but sad to think of the people who died in World War II. While my dad was getting the tickets to go on the ships, I went around looking at the torpedoes. They were really cool to see. The first thing we did there was see a movie about the war. Then we went on a boat that took us to the memorial over the U.S.S. Arizona. The U.S.S. Arizona was sunken, that's why the memorial is over the ship. When I went on the memorial, I saw black liquid in the water. My dad said that was the oil leaking from the ship. He said they wouldn't fix it because it was to remember what had happened to Pearl Harbor. He also said they called the leak, The Tears of Pearl Harbor. It was called that name because the oil leaking looked like tears. The next ship we went on was the Mighty Mo. But really it was called the U.S.S. Missouri. It was one of the ships that hadn't sunk. It was protecting the U.S.S. Arizona from anymore attacks. We got to explore the whole ship. I thought it was cool how a japanese aircraft crashed into the ship, but it only made a small dent. I never knew how indestructible a ship could be. Next we saw a movie about the adventures the Mighty Mo have been on. I even saw a piece of writing on the floor. It was in the floor protected by glass. That writing piece was what the japanese wrote when they lost to the U.S.A. The next thing I went on was a submarine. It was called the U.S.S. Bowfin. But this time we didn't just look at things. We got a little ipod that told us about everything. There was a million things the ipod had to talk about. I think the coolest things were all the torpedoes. I even got to lay on the beds. They were really comfortable. I felt like we were trapped in the submarine. You feel like you're actually in the war. When we finally got out, I was exhausted. We got off and left Pearl Harbor. That was only one thing we did in Hawaii. We had many more adventures there in Hawaii. But I think going to Pearl Harbor was the greatest thing out of everything I did there.

What a Week

A Cool and Different Culture

I think the most important thing of what we've learned is how they used other living things to make a different useful thing. But they didn't waste the the leftovers. Also I think it was important how the Native Americans thanked the living thing they used.

I would want to tell the world that Native Americans prefer people to call them Indians. The next thing I want the world to know is that the Indians respected the things that were useful to them.

I would recommend this experience next year because there might be something that Indians. Also, I want the students to have just as much fun as we had learning about the Indian culture.

A Creative Author

There is nothing that stands out in my mind from his visit.

My favorite part was when he told us what ideas did he take from his life to write his stories.

The first thing that I'd asked him is, "Did he ever get frustrated when writing his stories?". Also I would ask him, "Did he always take ideas From his life to write his stories?"

A Skilled Band and Orchestra

I think those musicians have a great talent in playing an instrument.

My favorite part was when the conductor came out wearing a mask and hat. I also like the part when they played the song Go West.

I would say, "I never knew how great a real orchestra and band could be so amazing."
