Character Traits

Article posted October 28, 2009 at 10:06 PM GMT • comment • Reads 174

Most characters have very strong personalities.  You can use adjectives to describe a character's personality traits.  For example, in The Paperbag Princess by Robert Munsch, Princess Elizabeth is brave, beautiful and intelligent.  Prince Ronald is snobby, rude and weak.

What adjectives would you use to describe Harry Potter's personality?  Use at least three adjectives and don't forget to give clues from the story that can prove you are right.

Setting the Purpose for Reading

Article posted September 11, 2009 at 08:39 PM GMT • comment (15) • Reads 336

Every time you read a book it's good to set a purpose for reading.  To do this you should read the title and look at the cover picture.  Think about what you already know about the title.  Then you should read the summary located on the back of the book or the inside cover.  After reading the summary ask yourself some of the following questions.

"What is the character going to do?"

"What is going to happen to the character?"

After asking yourself these predictions you should make a prediction about the story.

Go ahead and make your prediction about Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone here.  I can't wait to read them!
