Alia's Mission conflict #5

Article posted May 28, 2010 at 11:38 PM GMT • comment • Reads 136

In my book Alia’s Mission by Mark Alan Stamaty. Alia is trying to save the books in the library. If I had to give her some advice I would tell her that she needs as much help as she can get, and don’t take “NO!” as an answer. I would also tell her that she is brave and to stay that way. That is the advice I would tell Alia to help her face her conflict.

Bounce #4

In my book Bounce by Natasha Friend Evyn has a personality trait that goes with the problem she faces. The personality trait that she shows is unwilling. Evyn is unwilling to accept Eleni as her step-mother. Evyn asked her dad if he still loves “Stella” and he said yes. That made her not want to accept Eleni even more. That is the personality trait that Evyn shows.

                In my book Bounce by Natasha Friend Ev misses her old home in Maine. I don’t think that she likes who she is living with. She hates the twins. I have felt like this at camp. When I am at camp I sometimes get home sick and I normally hate at least two people at my camp(in the same unit as me). That is how I can connect to Ev in my book Bounce by Natasha Friend.

The conflict in these chapters of  Bounce by Natasha Friend is that Ev’s father Birdie has told her and her brother that he is going to marry somebody that he has been dating, and they will have to go to Boston to live with Birdie’s fiancée. She wants to stay in Maine for the first half of the school year. She pictures what it will be like there. When she started to like Boston and starts to settle in, and make friends she started to like Boston and started to deal with the fact that Birdie was getting married and she was a bridesmaid.

Author's Purpose of Perfect

Article posted March 26, 2010 at 12:10 AM GMT • comment • Reads 210

The author’s purpose of my book Perfect by Natasha Friend is to teach us that “Nobody’s Perfect.” People can look like they are Perfect but you never know what they have going on in their life or what has happened in their past. Also you never know if they have some horrible things going on in their lives. Just like in my book. Isabelle thought that Ashley Barnum was. Isabelle knew that there were horrible things going on in Ashley’s life but she still thought that her and her family was perfect. That is what the author wanted you to find out about this book.

I have a prediction about my book Perfect by Natasha Friend. My prediction is that I think that Isabelle Lee and Ashley Barnum are going to become friends. I think this because when Isabelle went to “Group” for the first time Ashley was there. After “Group” was over and while Ashley & Isabelle were waiting for their parents to come and pick them up, they were talking about why they were in “Group.” I also think this because Ashley and Isabelle have eating disorders. That is why I think that Isabelle and Ashley are going to become friends.

The Man Who Went to the Far Side of the Moon

By: Bea Uusma Schyffert

The author’s purpose of my book The Man Who Went To The Far Side Of The Moon by Bea Uusma Schyffert is to tell people about Michael Collins. Have you ever heard of Michael Collins before? Well this book tells you about him. The author’s purpose of this book is to tell about Michael Collins because they wanted people to know who he was and he had a hard job. His job was to wait at the far side of the moon with no radio contact anywhere. This book tells about Michael Collins job and why people don’t know him. That is the author’s purpose of my book.

Things That Are author

Article posted February 15, 2010 at 10:22 PM GMT • comment • Reads 130

In my book Things That Are by Andrew Clements I have a moment in my book that shows one thing that the author wants you to know is wrong or the author’s purpose. This moment is when Alicia (the main character) woke up at Bobby’s house and finding that Gertie wasn’t by her side or on the blanket that Bobby put down for her to lay on. Bobby is Alicia's boyfriend and Gertie is Alicia's guide dog. Alicia woke Bobby up when she jumped when she couldn’t find Gertie and Bobby ran upstairs and found Gertie on the floor upstairs. William/James had given Gertie a piece of chicken that had Bobby’s mom’s sleeping pills in it that could have killed Gertie. Alicia could’ve gone out trying to find William/James to get revenge but she didn’t because she was the bigger person. I think the authors purpose of this moment is even if your dog got hurt you shouldn’t go to get revenge rise up and be the bigger person.  I think this because Gertie could still guide Alicia and if William/James had killed Gertie (which he could have by doing that) Alicia might not have done the same thing that she did when Gertie was pilled. That is what I think the author’s purpose of this moment of my book is.

A Poem for my Older Cousin

By: Rebecca Phillips

You’re not just my older cousin

But family, friend, and role model

You love me with all your heart

And I know you don’t want to be apart

Not seeing you until certain days

Because you are very far away

Over seas is farther then you think

And when I close my eyes

I know you are by my side

In my heart I can feel you

Supporting me no matter what

No matter where you are

You will always be there for me!

Point of View for Things That Are

Article posted January 27, 2010 at 12:07 AM GMT • comment • Reads 213

In my book Thing That Are by Andrew Clements the point of view is first person. I know my book is first person because it uses words like “I, me, he, I said” and more words like that. I also know that my book is first person because if my book was third person then the book would use words like “Alicia did this, Alicia said” and more words like that. I think my book is told in Alicia’s point of view because you hear all of her thoughts. If this book was third person I don’t think that I would like it. I don’t think that I would like the book of it was told in third person because you wouldn’t be able to know what Alicia was thinking. The story wouldn’t work out if it wasn’t. Alicia is a blind girl and you are getting to know what she thinks about being blind wouldn’t you want to know what was going on in a blind persons head? That is the point of view of my book Things That Are by Andrew Clements.

An extra journal entry for Things Hoped For

Article posted January 18, 2010 at 08:05 PM GMT • comment • Reads 145

In my book Things Hoped For by Andrew Clements I think it was sweet for Robert to have his girlfriend, Alicia to call Gwen to have her play her Violin for Alicia. Alicia is a wonderful blind girl that loves Robert’s music so Bobby thought that Alicia would love Gwen’s. Then after the phone call that Gwen gets from Alicia she went down to practice when she didn’t want to practice even though she had an audition the next day. Another part that was entertaining would be when William had followed them into the police station and Robert tricked him. I just hope that William was put in jail for sneaking around a police station in a meeting that is a private meeting. That was what I thought about the chapters 16 and 17 in my book Things Hoped For by Andrew Clements.

Things Hoped For Point of View

Article posted January 17, 2010 at 11:53 PM GMT • comment • Reads 165

In my book Things Hoped For by Andrew Clements the point of view of my book is 1st person. I know my book is first person because it uses words like “I, we, he, I said,” and they were not in quotations as in what someone was saying. I know that in 1st person books that they use words like “I, we, he, she” and in 3rd person books they use words like “Gwen said Gwen did this.” I also know that my book is first person because I know what Gwen is thinking and you only know what the main character is thinking in first person books. Another reason I know that my book is in first person because I know that my book isn’t 2nd person. 2nd person books are books that you tell the story. Those kinds of books are kids books. If my book was third person then you wouldn’t know what Gwen felt when she saw her grandfather in the freezer and what she thought about Robert the trumpet player telling her that two years ago he was invisible and that the guy in the store (William) was invisible because there was a shadow that had no owner and Robert knew from his experience that it was a guy that was invisible. That is the point of view in my book Things Hoped For by Andrew Clements.

Thing Hoped For Prediction

Article posted January 14, 2010 at 09:26 PM GMT • comment • Reads 162

I predict that in Things Hoped For by Andrew Clements I think that William killed Grandpa. I think that William killed Grandpa because William seems suspicious and since he is invisible he would be able to sneak into the house and put Grandpa in the freezer. Another reason I think William killed Grandpa is because Hank and William were the two possible people I thought could’ve done something to Grandpa but the way that Hank acted when he found out that Grandpa was dead made me think that Hank is out of the question. So that leads me to think it was William that killed Grandpa. That is my prediction for my book Things Hoped For by Andrew Clements.

Poem of the month for December

Article posted December 22, 2009 at 02:31 PM GMT • comment • Reads 208

O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant,

O come ye, O come ye, to
Bethlehem.

Come and behold Him, born the King of angels;

Refrain

O come, let us adore Him,

O come, let us adore Him,

O come, let us adore Him,

Christ the Lord.

True God of true God, Light from Light Eternal,

Lo, He shuns not the Virgin’s womb;

Son of the Father, begotten, not created;

Refrain

Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation;

O sing, all ye citizens of heaven above!

Glory to God, all glory in the highest;

Refrain

See how the shepherds, summoned to His cradle,

Leaving their flocks, draw nigh to gaze;

We too will thither bend our joyful footsteps;

Refrain

Lo! star led chieftains, Magi, Christ adoring,

Offer Him incense, gold, and myrrh;

We to the Christ Child bring our hearts’ oblations.

Refrain

Child, for us sinners poor and in the manger,

We would embrace Thee, with love and awe;

Who would not love Thee, loving us so dearly?

Refrain

Yea, Lord, we greet Thee, born this happy morning;

Jesus, to Thee be glory given;

Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing.

Refrain

 I predict that Gwen’s Grandfather is invisible and staying at home but no one knows that he is staying at home. I think this because he called and left home for a while because he had to get away for a while, but sense it is the sequel of Things Not Seen where someone else was invisible that Grandpa it too. I think he is staying at home because why would someone leave on no notice at all? I also think this because if you were telling someone that you were gone then why would you call and leave it on an answering machine? That is my prediction.

Things Not Seen Point of View

Article posted December 3, 2009 at 12:17 AM GMT • comment • Reads 242

I’m reading the book Things Not Seen by Andrew Clements and I’m going to tell you the point of view of my book. The point of view of my book is first person. I know my book is first person because the book is told by Bobby’s perspective. I know that my book is told in Bobby’s perspective because it uses words like I, me, she, he, I said, she said, mom said. This shows me that my book is told in Bobby’s perspective because it shows that he is telling the story. I also know that my book is told in Bobby’s perspective because I know all of Bobby’s thoughts, I know that when you know somebody’s thoughts that it is first person because it wouldn’t make sense if the story was about someone and somebody else told the story. That is the point of view of my book Things Not Seen by Andrew Clements.

Things Not Seen Chapters 21- to the end

Article posted November 24, 2009 at 09:51 PM GMT • comment • Reads 159

I had a prediction that Bobby wasn’t going to turn back. Well I didn’t think that he was going to change back because Bobby and his parents couldn’t figure out what made him become invisible in the first place. Normally if you don’t know what happened then you don’t know how to cure what happened. Bobby and his parents were shocked and they didn’t know where to start to help cure Bobby. Another reason I didn’t think that Bobby was going to change back was because I know from other books that if something bad happens then it normally is resolved in the last book of the series. Now that I am done with the book I found out that my prediction I wrong. Bobby had found out that something was happening to a satellite in space. So the heat of the blanket caused him to turn invisible. Then Bobby thought that if he slept with the blanket again then it might counter act what happened before (turn him back.) At four o’clock in the morning a police officer  and Ms. Pagett came right into Bobby’s room. He thought that he was still invisible so he took off his boxers and through them into his closet. Then Bobby found out that he had turned back to normal. That was my prediction and I found out that it was wrong.

My poem of the Month for November(it

Article posted November 24, 2009 at 06:05 PM GMT • comment • Reads 129

Background Info:Claudia is a spoiled soap star who has no idea what real life is like.

They think they know me; they think they know me so well. I'll pass by a supermarket and be informed of the glamorous weekend that "Claudia" had. Apparently I went to Malibu and got Crazy with all my soap star friends. You know it's a funny thing being informed of the goings on of your weekend while you're out walking your dear little doggie. These sorts of things are ALWAYS happening to me, and I feel so violated by the media. All these lies they write about me in the tabloids, "Claudia just got dumped by her hunky prime time boyfriend." "Claudia got her car impounded because she couldn't bother to park in a normal space." That is why I have decided to set the record straight, right here; right now in front of ALL of you. I am going to let you know the REAL Claudia Picklewink.

First you must know that it is NOT easy being me, I have to look my best at all times, have you any idea how early I must get up so my personal hair and make up crews can make me presentable to society? And people are calling me all time, my assistant tells me all the stories of the calls she's received for me. And it is not easy breaking up with a primetime star boyfriend; yes I broke up with HIM. He didn't break up with me, but he did make the worst mistake ever" He got me Pink roses, PINK. EVERYONE knows RED roses are my favorite not pink. And my car was towed because some jerk moved it, I'm sure it was because they had some sort of extreme hate for me. It's not like I would park in a handicapped space on purpose.

You know I am not a bad person. I am really not, I'm all for that charity, save the world from global warming rah-rah. Like those pedigree commercials about adopting dogs, I did adopt a dog... a miniature Shitzu-poo from Paris, yes my Pookie was flown first class to America for his new home. I gave an animal a home, doesn't that count for something. And my job, it makes such an impact on the world. My character in Broken Times touches the lives of women all over the planet. How many people can say that? What really hurts me is that people call me a spoiled brat. It's not like I had the most lavish up bringing. I had to earn my money; it wasn't just handed to me. My parents gave me a used car for my 16th birthday, and I had to pay for my own prom dress. And people are all like "Did you see that new bag Claudia had, it must have cost a fortune, why isn't she more frugal with her money?" Just because I like quality things does not make me a spoiled brat. It's infuriating. Do you think I'm a spoiled brat? DO YOU? You do don't you. Why am I even pouring my soul out to you? My life is so difficult!

Things Not Seen chapers 8-14

Article posted November 16, 2009 at 07:49 PM GMT • comment • Reads 143

In the book Things Not Seen, I think that Bobby made some what of a mistake to tell Alicia that he was invisible. I think this because when he first told his parents that he was invisible they told him that they couldn't tell anyone that he was invisible. They wanted to keep it a secret. It was also not a bad idea because Alicia is a nice girl and because of the situation that he was in. When Alicia took his arm she knew something was not right that he didn't have a coat on. When Bobby told her she was scared and confused but she had to know the truth so ahe asked someone who passed by who was taller Bobby or her but as Bobby had said the guy couldn't see him because Bobby is invisible!!!

Tangerine (the very end)

The truth will come out. Here is a lesson that I learned from the book Tangerine no matter what the truth will come out. Look at Erik and Aurther. Erik is  seen as the good football player who never does anything wrong . At least that is what everyone thinks. Paul's parents have been keeping  a secret from Paul for a long time and maybe even to long. Paul discoverd that his parents told him a lie. His parents had told him that when he was little that he stared into a eclipse and it hurt his eyes. Paul figured out what really happened to his eyes. What really happened was when they lived back in Hutson, Erik and his friend sprayed white paint in his eyes and then left after they did it. His mom said that the dr. had said that he MAY NOT remember what happened but he did. Arthur had killed Luis and cleaned up all of Erik's dirty work and the police found out so they arrested Aurther and put Erik on house arrest. EIRK NEEDS SOME SERIOUS HELP=http://!!!

In my book Tangerine by Edward Bloor I think that Erik is a jerk and I can’t stand him. When Paul had his group over to do the project they finished early so they went outside and played some soccer. Then Erik can home with his friend and Tino and Erik started to get into it and Erik slapped Tino across the face and Tino started to bleed because of the ring that Erik was wearing and Tino got hit on the forehead. Then at the end of football practice Luis showed up and was very angry because he doesn’t think that it was right to hit a little boy. Especially with one of those big huge rings and make him bleed. Erik doesn’t even know Tino but that doesn’t care because he thought it was funny. Erik made Arthur do his dirty work. Erik gave Arthur a signal and then Arthur hit Luis with that blackjack that he has in his bag to clean up for Erik.

In the book Tangerine by Edward Bloor I don’t think that Joey will ask for who Paul told him to ask for. Of course on the phone Joey will say that he will ask so that Paul thinks that he will. I think sense Joey had got a note from the office saying that Joey will have the same classes as Paul Fisher. Then the next thing that I think will happen is I don’t think that Joey will be able to be on the soccer team I think this because they barlely let Paul join and I don’t think that Joey will be able to stand that he may not get any playing time. I think that the coach will put Paul in before the coach puts Joey in. I think this because Joey was coming form the soccer team at Lake Windsor. Joey is coming after the first game and the coach doesn’t know how good Joey is and I don’t think that Joey is that good but that’s my opinion. That is what I think about that part of the book Tangerine by Edward Bloor.

The Horse
Submitted by: Caitlin

The horse;
Not just animal, but friend;
I watch him gallop;
Smooth as glass;
Gracefully:
I talk to him;
He understands;
No criticism, no hatred;
Just a friendly, encouraging nicker;
The horse.

Prediction for Tangerine pages 41- part 2

Article posted October 2, 2009 at 07:46 PM GMT • comment • Reads 118

Pages 41- part 2
In my book Tangerine by Edward Bloor I predict that Paul is going to be on the soccer team and be the goalie. I don’t just mean on the team I mean that Paul is going to be able to dress in his uniform for the away games and be on the bus. I think this because Paul was doing so good at tryouts that Paul even stopped the ball after having the team captain kick at him. The team captain kicks the ball so hard and also the team captain had gave Paul a thumbs up and then ran off. The bad thing is that the coach wasn’t watching so the coach has no clue that Paul is a good goalie and can stop the team captain that had scored 23 goals the previous year. I predict that Paul will be on the team because he is so good and deserves it. Especially because he can stop the team captain and not get hurt and still be catching everybody else when they are kicking at him.

In the book Tangerine by Edward Bloor I think that Erik is one of those kids that think they’re better then everyone. Erik thinks that he is perfect especially when it come to football he didn’t have to go to tryouts for the football team but he went anyway. When Erik met Mike and they were in the living room talking Erik and his dad were bragging about how good Erik is. Then Erik said that he doesn’t fake anything on the football field. He said, “If I go out there is no fake about it I’ll kick the field goal.” Then Mike said that will be the coaches decision wont it? I feel bad for Paul he has to hear how good his brother is everywhere he goes I know the feeling. I always hear how good my brothers are every time I play a sport that one of my brother’s play. That is my freewrite of the book Tangerine by Edward Bloor.

A Koala is Not a Bear
I met a cuddly koala one day
This is what he had to say
A koala is not a bear
So there! Take care

Panda bears and polar bears
Are bears. So there!
Grizzly bears and teddy bears
Are bears. So there!

Bears are all my friends
That is where my story ends
A koala is not a bear
So there! Take care

Please take extra special care
To say koala, not koala bear

I would be a sky blue or a hot blue also known as a neon blue.I would be one of those colors because if I was a dark blue or a regular blue then that is dull and boring since those are the colors that are most common. Another reason why I would be a bright blue would be because then I was like a block away. If I was bright then people would see me at night and walking across the road. I could be like a crossing gaurds new vest if he wanted a new one. Those are soome of the reasons why I would be blue and a bright blue or a sky blue.
