As young boy, Earl Woods was raised by his older sister after both of his parents died. Even though his parents were not there for him, he still played sports and other activites as other kids. He loved playing baseball. He was the first African-American to play in the Big Eight Conference. He then joined the Army and later in life retired. His son is more well known as Tiger Woods who is now a Pro Golfer. Earl thought his son the lesson of "Playing Through". "Playing Through" means working hard and staying focused when things get tough.
