Already it is Week 7 and what a busy couple of weeks ahead. This week we have a civil defence visitor from Te Awamutu, our speech finals, and our tabloids. We also start gymnastics. Our field trip is the following week.
Congratulations to the 2 groups who took the role of teachers in reading last week. They used a lot of different techniques and strategies in teaching about the earth ( play dough, eggs , apples, data projector, jelly, jigsaws... to name a few) I know they found it challenging and rewarding all in one .
From our class we have Brett and Melissa going into the speech finals. Congratulations to those two and all the others for their fantastic effort in speeches. The speech final is this Thursday .
Until next week

In spite of a dynamic 50 minutes of play, the results went against our dedicated , netballers. I was so proud of their effort and it sure was a nail biting game.

What a busy week we have ahead of us. TheSalaka Drummers from Ghana are performing tomorrow . We have been having fun creating different rhythms and patterns with a variety of percussion instruments. Did you know that paint brushes make great drumming sticks and baby milk powder tins make awesome drums?
The Kapa Haka group are performing at Raeburn on Wednesday and on friday we have Cross Country.
Speeches are being performed and I have been very impressed with the first ones heard today. Well done .

Another busy week, concluded with some great tabloid sport activities for the whole team on Friday sfternoon. We have really been lucky with the weather.
The class only had to do wet weather duty with the younger classes once this wekk and I would like to thank them for their work here.
In "Canoe in the Mist"- we have reached the chapters about the night of the eruption and will be talking about what to do BEFORE a disaster happens. We have the Civil Defence Officer from Te Awamutu visiting in Week 7.
In week 8 we will be going to the Mystery Creek Agricultural and Heritage Museum. here we will be able to view what life was like at the time of the eruption. A notice about this went out on Friday. It will be a great visit.
Until next week. Don't forget you are always welcome to pop in for a chat .

Week 3 is upon us already. We are having a great time with our "Disaster" theme and practising all the different reading strategies to help understand texts around them.
Te Wiki o te Reo was ably assisted by Atonio and Mikayla who gave instruction in small groups and assisted with daily quizes. We intend to continue this throughout the term.
With speeches coming up, we have been looking at what makes a good dpeech or talk and hve been practising speaking in front of a group with our introductions to a Pepeha and some impromptu speeches.
Cross country training is going well , with many children achieving their daily goals in the mountain challenge.
Until next week
