Recess Reflection

DO                                          Recess

Recess is fun but lining up is a problem, we line up quietly and in single file but when we are leaving we always leave last only when specific teacher is on duty. I think if we go back to the other rules we will get to class on time.

Facts about the Cardiovascular System

Article posted December 14, 2010 at 07:27 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 937

Facts about the Cardiovascular System

·         The heart has four chambers (rooms) left atrium, left    ventricle, right atrium, and right ventricle.

·         The pulmonary vein is the only vein that caries oxygenated blood.

·         Between the atriums and the ventricles there are valves (doors), the mitral is between the left chambers, and the tricuspid valve is between the right chambers.

·         The aorta is the biggest blood vessel in the body.

·         The pulmonary artery is the only artery that caries deoxygenated blood.

·         The left chamber caries oxygenated blood; the right chamber caries deoxygenated blood.

·         The left ventricle gives the biggest contraction so it can send the blood all over the body.

·         Oxygenated blood (rich, clean blood).

·         Deoxygenated blood (dirty blood).

·         All blood vessels have valves.

·         The heart is protected by a layer of fat.

·         If the layer around your heart gets really strong your heart can’t pump anymore.

·         Antioxidants help you if you have high cholesterol.

·         If you have heart failure you will have to replace it with a machine till you find a replacement which is a transplant.

·         HDL is the non-harmful fat (good) fat.

·         LDL is the harmful fat (bad) fat.

·         Heart (Cardiac).

The Facts that we learned from Dr.Abchee

·         If there is a dysfunction in the blood vessels they replace it with blood vessels from your legs or arms.

·         A Hubble bubble is equal to a box of cigarettes.

·          If you have brain dysfunctions your brain might stop your heart.

·         You cannot transplant a kid’s heart to an adult’s heart.

The Facts that we learned from Mrs. Jeanette Karam

·         It is good to eat from a variety of healthy food.

·         Don’t eat too much of the same foods.

·         Every day you have to eat fruits and vegetables because of the fiber.

·         Fiber has antioxidant that helps to remove the fat from the stuck to the arteries.

Decoration

Decoration

It’s been years since I got opened. They always use the new ones to make food. I’ve been up here since they decorated this house I’m not a decoration. I’m the one you need to use when you cook. If somebody would clean me, I’m filled with dust. There are decorations on me but I am used to cook. What is this!? Somebody coming to save me! No! They didn’t come for me they came for a cup. Why don’t they use me? Is it because I am white and I have decorations or is it because they think I am a decoration for the kitchen?

I Made a Mistake

Article posted November 23, 2010 at 07:25 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 970

I Made a Mistake

I went to the market to buy some milk,

I made a mistake…and bought some silk.

I went to the airport to travel to Kalamazoo,

I made a mistake…and lost my shoe.

I went to the book store to buy a book,

I made a mistake…and got caught as a crook.

I went to the mountains to see Mary,

I made a mistake…and visited Harry.

The Visitors

The Visitors

Miss Jeanette Karam taught us about what is healthy and what is not healthy to eat. She talked about what grains, fruits, vegetables and oils might do to your heart and to your body .She told us that fruits and vegetables are good for you, but if you eat too much you will have a stomach ache. It is also bad to eat too much grains and oils.

Dr.Antoine Abchee told us what is good for your heart and what is not healthy for your heart. He told us that 15 cigarettes are the same as a cigar and 20 cigarettes are as big as a Hubble bubble.  He also told us if there are 1,000 people that smoke and another 1,000 that don’t smoke the people that smoke will get sicker.

I Am a Wild One!

African Lion mane - Looking good! Male African lions use their thick, dark manes to attract mates.

California sea lion ears - Unlike true seal ears, your California sea lion ears are outside your head. You can use these ears to hear above and below the water.

Fossa Snout - Even though you have fearsome fossa teeth and look like cat, you're actually a relative of the mongoose family and unique to the forests of Madagascar.

Siberian tiger paws - It's no fun getting stuck in the snow. That's why your Siberian tiger paws are extra large. They work just like snowshoes and prevent you from sinking.

African lion legs - Your African lion legs are extremely powerful and have long, retractable claws to help you bring down prey. Careful not to poke your eye out with those things!

African lion tail - You have a dark brown tuft of hair on the end of your African lion tail. It helps you communicate. You can use it for lion sign language to talk to other members of your pride.
