So Much Depends Upon

Article posted March 3, 2011 at 08:06 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 2177

Candy
So much depends upon
A piece of candy
Melting in my moth
With a heavenly taste.

Burger
So much depends upon
A juicy burger
Waiting in the oven
Ready, hot, and juicy

Ball
So much depends upon
A bouncy ball
Breaking the window
Covered with mud and grass.

Eraser
So much depends upon
A shrinking eraser
Erasing math problems shrinking everyday
leaving crumbs behind.

Garbage Bin
So much depends upon
A stinky garbage bin
Filling it with filthy trash taken
away almost every week.

Mother
So much depends upon
A perfect mother
Always ready to give
With lots of love and care.

Fries
So much depends upon
Juicy fries
Waiting in the oven
Hot and ready to be eaten.

·         The heart has four chambers, the left and right atrium and the left and right ventricle.

·         Deoxygenated blood –dirty blood.

·         Oxygenated blood-rich blood.

·         The left atrium receives oxygenated blood from the lungs through the pulmonary vein.

·         The left atrium contracts causing the mitral valve to open sending the blood to the left ventricle.

·         The left ventricle contracts sending the blood all over the body through the aorta.

·         The aorta is the largest artery in our body.

·         The Septum is a thick muscle that separates the right chamber from the left chamber.

·         The right atrium receives deoxygenated blood from the body through the Superior and Inferior Vena Cava

·         The right atrium contracts causing the tricuspid valve to open sending the blood to the right ventricle.

·         The right ventricle contracts sending the blood to the lungs through the Pulmonary artery so you could exhale it.

·         The dietitian informed us to eat fish because it has omega 3.

·         Veins carry deoxygenated blood.

·         Arteries carry oxygenated blood.

·           The esophagus carries food.

·         The windpipe/Trachea carries O2.

·         The heart is the only muscle that never stops working.

·         The different chambers work simultaneously in the heart.

·         Fiber stops your arteries from clogging.

·         Exercising brings up your HDL that burns your LDL.

·         There are three different types of blood vessels, arteries, capillaries, and veins.

·          We could have half a chocolate bar every day, and not on a daily basis.

·         The left ventricle is the strongest chamber in your heart.

·         Capillaries connect arteries and veins.

·         Platelets clog your cuts so you don’t bleed to death.

The Cardiologist and the Dietitian

On Thursday November 4 2010 the day the dietitian Miss Jeanette Karam came, she helped and informed me about healthy and junk food and she told me how much of each type of food should I eat and that helped me a lot. After the dietitian left Dr. Antoine Abchee the cardiologist came and he talked about the body and the heart and that really helped

I Made a Mistake

Article posted October 15, 2010 at 07:50 AM GMT0 • comment (3) • Reads 2426

I Made a Mistake

I went to the movies to watch a show,

I made a mistake…and chopped my toe.

I went to the market to buy a nut,

I made a mistake…and bought a hut.

I went to the barber to get a look,

I made a mistake…and read my book.

I went to the kitchen to have a noodle,

I made a mistake…and bought a poodle.

I went to school to learn some French,

I made a mistake…and sat on a bench.

I Am A Wild One

Article posted October 17, 2008 at 10:53 AM GMT0 • comment (5) • Reads 727

Grade 3A students would like to share the information that was provided by the New York Zoos and Aquarium website about their “wild self” animal characteristics. Each child designed his/her wild self and has taken that name as their Class Blogmeister user name. Welcome to the world of blogging!

Dan

African Lion mane - Looking good! Male African lions use their thick, dark manes to attract mates.

Polar bear ears -It gets cold in the Arctic (down to 35°F below). For warmth, your polar bear ears are small and covered in fur—even on the inside. When diving, the ears close to keep cold water out.

Fossa Snout - Even though you have fearsome fossa teeth and look like cat, you're actually a relative of the mongoose family and unique to the forests of Madagascar.

Siberian tiger paws - It's no fun getting stuck in the snow. That's why your Siberian tiger paws are extra large. They work just like snowshoes and prevent you from sinking.

African lion legs - Your African lion legs are extremely powerful and have long, retractable claws to help you bring down prey. Careful not to poke your eye out with those things!

Lesser bird of paradise wings - Your beautiful and elegant wings are from a bird of paradise. Most birds of paradise live in Papua New Guinea, where they're so revered the nation's flag bears their likeness.

Spiny Tailed Iguana Tail - During the day your lizard lounge is a tree branch. But at night you can retreat into a hole in the tree bark and use your spiny tail to block the entrance. That's one serious home security system!
