I Am From
I modeled this poem with my students.
I am from two parents who left their country to work abroad in Venezuela.
I am from a family that cherishes human rights and respects freedom of others.
I am from a family that strongly believes in values like honesty, respect and tolerance.
I am from a family that is religious but definitely not fanatic; a family that respects all religions equally and equally and equally.
I am from a family that empathizes with under privileged people and definitely won’t accept to do to others what we don’t want others to do for us.
I am from a country that torments me, yes torments me to see her natural beauty washed away by black charcoal, by fires that completely devastated most of its beauty.
I am from a country that inhales freedom that is always sprouting fighting to grow in spite of all the threatening societies around it.
I am from a family who strongly believes in education.
