Hello, all!
I hope you are enjoying the start of our blogging project. It may take a little while to get used to all the new learning you're doing, but soon you will all be expert bloggers!
Your first activity is going to be to create a list of seven random facts. These should be RANDOM and should not identify you in any way!
You're at the stage now that you can post comments to other people's blogs. You should start reading what other people are posting, especially in their "random facts" articles. Find something that you share in common with someone else that you didn't know before! Even if you didn't write the same random fact as someone else, if you share that fact in common, let them know!
Remember, too, that there are TWO divisions represented here; don't just read blogs from your own division. Your challenge is to respond to at least one post in another division along with your own.
Oh, and speaking of random facts, here are mine:
- I hate raw tomatoes. (blech)
- I have a lovebird called Snuggles (or Cass, but only when she's bad).
- My favourite place in the world is Vienna.
- I really like crime dramas like CSI (etc.) and Law and Order (etc.).
- I can sense gum anywhere in the classroom.
- I wanted to be a teacher since I was four years old.
- I like computers.

Hi, all!
I don't know if you've noticed, but the little map that's labelled "clustrmaps" in the right margin has dots that show visits from around the world. This week, we went above visits from over 900 computers world wide! (If you click on the map, you get a larger map of visits; the number of visits is listed below this.)
How long do you think it will take for us to go above 1000?!
The other little button under the map that is labelled "geo visitors" shows the most recent visits to our site over the past 24 hours.

Hi, all! Sorry I can't be with you - I have to get rid of this stubborn cough first.
But never fear! I can assign you work from here!
Here's what I'd like you to do today (remember: band & esl people first; others second)
- Update your Battle of the Books site, including writeups on your personal site about the book(s) you've already read. (See Aqua's site as an example - div 1 group 3.)
- Look at this site as a precursor to our next Socials unit. It gives a brief definition of civilization.
- Look at this site as an example of a timeline. Click "History" in the left column and a time period in the right column when you're there. Explore it a bit.
- Write a blog article about your holiday.
That's all! See you soon!

I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday, and keeping safe in all the snow! (Wario - any guesses why we said no sledding down the hill at school?!) It looks like Skytrain is down again as we speak, as I'm looking at a train stopped on the track outside my window, and it shouldn't be stopped there. And it's not even snowing any more! I wonder if we'd had school this past week if it would have been cancelled!
I've updated all your current blog entries and comments to date. You are welcome to add more entries and comments through the holidays, but I won't be updating them again until next weekend, as I'll be away for the week.
Be good and help out around the house next week!

Hello, students in Divisions 1 and 2!
I hope you're reading your books for Battle of the Books! There's lots of reading to be done.
You can get to our Battle of the Books wiki by going here ( kitchener.wikispaces.com) . Remember to log in using the first name of your blog pseudonym, and use your blog password (division 1: you need to add the number 1 at the end of your password).
Enjoy!

Go to the following probability site: Interactivity.
Choose a probability device from the choices at the top. Adjust the spinner or dice so it's to your liking.
Figure out the theoretical probability of each choice.
Run the experiment so that you spin the spinner or roll the dice 1000 times (you can click the 10 button to spin/roll 10 times at each shot). Watch the tally, and what happens to the probability. While you're doing this.
What happens when you spin the spinner more and more times? Do you get closer to, or farther away, from the theoretical probability? Explain. (You can find this question in the assignments in the left sidebar. Be sure to link to this in your blog response...and don't forget a title.!

Thank you once again for doing a great job on the assembly. You showed great leadership and respect, and we were very proud of you!
Click here to see the Remembrance Day video we made.
(If you're visiting, we borrowed a YouTube idea from MadV, who made a video called The Message, then did our own version of the video. No links for YouTube here, as we can't view YouTube from school anyways!)
