Mrs Field went to NIGHT MAGIC and saw the Big big big big book. Our picture of Hatupatu was in the book, and the audience liked it. Mrs Field told the audience about Hatupatu. Then everyone went to listen to stories and make shadow puppets. Kaitlin made a flower and Charlotte made a frog. The puppet show was at the end, and the puppets were colourful. All the children sang.

Kia Ora Parents
We welcome Whaea Sheena to our class, and hope you are able to drop in sometime soon to meet her.
Next week we are holding a special time for our Grandparents to visit our school and see what their grandchildren are learning and doing. Our children are very excited about this, and we look forward to seeing as many Grandparents as possible. Room 3 plans to do some baking on Friday morning, and to prepare some questions about how life was when you were at school. We hope Grandparents can stay to share lunch with us. Children are asked to bring something to share for lunch on Friday.
We are painting pictures of our Grandparents to show you, and we would like to make a photo display of our Grandparents, so please try to send a photo to school on Monday.
Later in the term we will be investigating our own growth and changes, so we would appreciate a baby photo of your child. Life Ed will be running a programme to support this, too.
We appreciate your support with helping your child learn ABCs, and words, and listening to their reading.

We tasted some food. Lemons are sour, apples are sweet. Tomatoes and carrots are sweet too. We like jellybeans best.

Well, tomorrow we are off to the beach. We are learning to be safe at the beach and in the water. We might build a giant sandcastle. We can swim in the waves. The lifeguards will teach us how to be safe.

Last week we went to the Fire Station. The Firemen taught us how to Get Down, Get Low, Get Away, if there is a fire. We all meet at the letterbox.
We can ring 111 for the Fire Fighters.
We all got a prize.

We went to see the birds at Lake Okareka. We saw Pukekos with long red legs and red heads. We saw black swans with ruffly feathers and red beaks. We saw quacking ducks.
Then we had lunch at the playground. There was a tall climbing place and some swings and a merry-go-round.
After lunch we went to see the NZFalcons at Wingspan Bird of Prey Trust. They can fly as fast as a cheetah!

We planted a little Pohutukawa tree in our school. Mr Robinson helped us plant it, and he put some black windbreak cloth around it to keep it warm. We gave it some water to help it grow.

Did you see the wind today,
Blow the autumn leaves away?
From the trees they fluttered down,
Some were red and some were brow.
Dancing up and down the street,
Under everybody's feet.
Did you see the wind today
Blow the leaves away.

Today we had a show about space. We learned about the astronauts and their trip to the moon. We know there are rocks and dust on the moon, but there is no air or water. The astronauts went for a walk on the moon.
