Field Day Reflection

Article posted May 17, 2010 at 02:28 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 250

Field Day was so fun! All the activities that were included were different than the ones last year and as fun too. I liked the water activity the most because I got wet along with the other students in my group and the other group that were at that station too. All the other stations were fun but there is not another station that can make you get wet. Another station I liked was the handball station because my group cooperated very well on that station but they did cooperate good on the other stations as well. I really liked the end as well because I spilled my water on my head on purpose and we got ice cream and went to recess after. That day was a a lot of fun!

The Crowd

The Crowd

Rrm, rrm, rrm, the crowd ate a limb

The actor sighed, so the crowd was petrified

Loomed, loomed, loomed, the crowd was doomed

Zammy, zammy, zammy, the crowd was happy

The actor was sad, so the crowd was sad

Zap, zap, zap, the crowd started to clap

Rizzy, rizzy, rizzy, the crowd was dizzy

The actor cried, so the crowd went wild

Rit, rit, rit, the crowd bit a mitt

Finally the actor said:”thank you all”, so the crowd through a ball and went to a mall.

The clock

Tick-tock

Tick-tock

Time is ticking

Only one minute

Everybody is watching

Time is passing

Here it is

Ten, nine, eight

Seven, six, five

Four, three, two

ONE!

All the students start shouting joyfully

The school year is over

They all sign each other’s yearbooks

The teacher is hugging her students

Everybody leaves again

And of course

I’m left behind

Again

Nothing more

Than a school clock

Telling time

Nothing more…

The Magic Box

The Magic Box

I will put in the box

The wonderful and enchanting sound of water rushing from a waterfall,

The stunning sunset spreading an amazing color,

A dazzling rainbow spreading miraculous beauty everywhere.

I will put in the box

An evergreen forest with its astonishing color,

The sound of a Canary singing,

The chilly breeze and the feeling that it makes.

I will put in the box

Fire giving out a remarkable color,

Stars shining in the night,

The moon glowing in the dark.

My box is magical in its own way, it is my box…

My box is made of gold, silver, bronze, rubies and the strongest rock. It is so beautiful because of the magical things inside it.

It is my imagination…

It is where I feel home…

It is my box, no; it is my magical box…

The trip to the Shouf eco-lodge was really fun.

We did a lot of activities like hiking, archery, and many more.At night we looked at the moon with a telescope. After that we watched a movie called "Avatar" it was amazing.

We went to sleep.

The next day  most of us played a card game called "Kent".We had breakfast, then preformed more activities that were very fun. Sadly, we were getting ready to leave shortly after that. It was very fun and i wish we could do it again.

When we came back from the winter break Mr.Sami was substituting for Ms.Branch.

Mr.Sami was really fun, he substituted for two days. Those two days were really fun,  he helped us if we needed help with anything.

All the subjects were really fun, especially math. He didn't  give us homework but math, on Friday. It was really fun having Mr.Sami as the substitute, I wish he could of substituted on Monday too.

New Year Party

Article posted January 5, 2010 at 07:34 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 263

New Year's Eve was a great night.

I spent this event with my family and friends. My uncle and his bride-to-be were also present, celebrating it with us. My mom cooked us a great dinner which we gobbled down before the great dessert. During this party, we played Charades and danced to very nice music. At about two o'clock, we all took a walk down to the beach where we spent at least an hour watching the waves crash on the rocks near the shore. After returning to our apartment, we continued the night with eating snacks and just talking since we were all exhausted from that walk.

Christmas Is For Children

Article posted December 28, 2009 at 02:27 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 262

The snow softly falls on Christmas Eve

Excitement abounds for those who believe

Children’s faces gaze out from the light

Searching for Santa in the snowy night

Then off to bed skipping across the floor

After milk and cookies are left by the door

Snuggled under covers they say “night mum”

And think happy thoughts of the day to come

They lie too excited to sleep in their beds

But sleep they do then they dream instead

Dreams of Santa Claus and presents galore

Dreams of toys and sweets and so much more

Then they awake in the early morning gloom

Squeals of delight coming from their rooms

And so another Christmas day has come

A day of love and laughter and above all fun

basketball inventer

Article posted November 17, 2009 at 02:49 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 255

James Naismith was the Canadian physical education instructor who invented basketball in 1891. James Naismith was born in Almonte, Ontario and educated at McGill University and Presbyterian College in Montreal. He was the physical education teacher at McGill University (1887 to 1890) and at Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts (1890 to 1895). At Springfield College (which was then the Y.M.C.A. training school), James Naismith, under the direction of American phys-ed specialist Luther Halsey Gulick, invented the indoor sport of basketball. The first formal rules were devised in 1892. Initially, players dribbled a soccer ball up and down a court of unspecified dimensions. Points were earned by landing the ball in a peach basket. Iron hoops and a hammock-style basket were introduced in 1893. Another decade passed, however, before the innovation of open-ended nets put an end to the practice of manually retrieving the ball from the basket each time a goal was scored. In 1959; James Naismith was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame (called the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame.) by: Mary Bellis

Thankful

Article posted November 12, 2009 at 12:02 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 203

I am thankful for food,

People are starving every day

I am thankful for being able to have an education,

Some children don’t go to school

I am thankful for my family,

Some children lost their parents at a young age

I am thankful that I have a house to sleep in,

Some children sleep on the streets in the cold and breezy night

I am thankful for my health,

Some people have diseases and sicknesses…

Finally,

I am thankful for the world.

Bleeding Brother

Article posted November 5, 2009 at 06:36 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 193

WOW!!

We were on a yacht and we were going to a huge beach in Lebanon. The yacht was going really quick. I fell asleep on the way there; my brother woke me up half way there, I got burned. After 15 minutes I sat next the driver and watched him steer the yacht.

We got there, but there was a problem, the yacht could not reach to shore because it was too shallow.  Some of us jumped of the boat and swam to shore, but I stayed on the yacht with my brother waiting for the inflated boat to come and take us to the shore but the waves were getting strong that when the inflated boat came it was tilting hard.

I anxiously got on the inflated boat. My brother followed. Looking at the horizon, we both blindly sat down.

Chady decided to sit on the edge of the inflated boat. As he was walking toward the edge the boat firmly lifted by a sudden wave and BAM!!!

The boat’s edge hit my brother’s lip, it started to bleed! It was made out of wood. And for the rest of the boring time in the restaurant because the waves were so strong. But finally we went home. On the way home my brother said, “this was the worst day in the world!”
