Fifty thousand years ago, there was an Egyptian emperor called Karahut. Every night, there would be about 50 dreary princes and princesses that go to the underworld.
Karahut was very furious, he ordered all his men to stay awake all night no matter how tired they were. So that night, all his warriors, archers, and slaves guarded the empire, but at midnight, the soldiers saw someone coming out of the underworld. Then a warrior screamed” Ahh! It is the Soulkeeper! The king of the underworld has come to haunt us down! Quickly we have to tell the emperor Karahut,” but before they could even blink, the Soulkeeper took over everyone’s body and killed them except for one person. He was the general Kakentep. The Soulkeeper made him his minion. Then the Soulkeeper opened the portal to the underworld and disappeared with general Kakentep.
When the Soulkeeper reached his throne he ordered his soldiers to be ready for the night because he knew he had to fight the emperor.
The next morning every villager in the empire and town suffered the emperor’s wrath. He demanded his new soldiers and his new general called Tutenpa to stay awake all night with him. The emperor wore his armor and sword and at sundown, they all stood waiting for the enemy to come.
In a few minutes, the portal to the underworld opened and the Soulkeeper went out with his soldiers and slaves. “So it is you” said Karahut. In a fraction of a second, they slashed their blades at each other and the war began. Injuries and deaths were everywhere.
In an hour, everybody was dead except for the two generals, the emperor, and the king. Tutenpa went closer to Kakentep and punched his head. That cured Kakentep from being the Soulkeeper’s minion, but something happened unexpectedly. A clone of the Soulkeeper appeared, slashed the generals, and disappeared. The only people that were alive were Karahut and the Soulkeeper. The emperor was so furious that he struck the Soulkeeper with his sword and the Soulkeeper died, the underworld exploded and every evil was destroyed. Karahut succeeded and lived happily in a life where no evil existed.

Dear Mom and Dad, I think that planting trees will save our planet.
First of all, trees help stop global warming by reducing greenhouse gases. They absorb over a ton of harmful greenhouse gases in a lifetime. When there is less o2 and more co2, it causes holes in the Ozone Layer. As a result, the “Ultra Violet Rays” pass through the Ozone Layer and affects us. Trees produce enough o2 for 4 people every day.
Another valid reason is that they reduce soil erosion and water pollution. This is very important because mud slides hurt us and destroy our environment.
Finally, they reduce home energy needs by providing shade and a windbreak in winter. This helps us save energy. They also provide the equivalent cooling effect of 10 room size air conditioners operating 20 hours per day. Do you believe that they provide an estimated of $273 of environmental benefits in every year of its life.
I think deforestation is threatening our planet and I am ready to do whatever to keep trees and make a difference. In order to achieve my goal, I am going to do chores for a week and you will pay me a dollar every day.
Love You Always,
Rudy

My Blood Journey

Did you ever know how the circulatory system works?
I started inhaling. The oxygenated blood went in my pulmonary vein to my left atrium. It put pressure on the mitral valve in order to pass through to the left ventricle. From there, the oxygenated blood went in the aorta to the rest of the body. In the mean time, the superior vena cava and the inferior vena cava are carrying the deoxygenated blood to the right atrium. When they arrive, they go through the tricuspid valve into the right ventricle. The deoxygenated blood travelled through the pulmonary artery to my lungs where I got rid of the carbon dioxide (co2). Dear friends, I have a message from heart to heart. I want you to avoid polluted areas, eat healthy food, and exercise daily in order to stay healthy. Is it too much to ask?!

Do you believe an 8 year old went in a soccer tournament?
“Wake up” My mom told me. I opened my eyes. It was 6 o’clock in the morning. Today it was going to be the first time I go to Italy and the first time I go to Europe to participate in a soccer tournament. I was so exited! I got out of bed, used the bathroom, and put on my clothes. Then I went to the kitchen to have breakfast. After that, we took our luggage and went to the taxi. Then we arrived to the airport. We looked for my soccer team because we were signed up with them. When we found them, we took our passports and went into the plane. I was next to the window. Then we took off! It is my favorite part! The flight was short. It was 4 hours. We reached Milan. From there we took a bus with two floors and went to Lake Como. That was where we were going to be. It is a beautiful place with an enormous lake. It has delicious ice cream and the best restaurant in the world called Elsa. I ordered squid and a plate of pasta with clams. When they got me the pasta, it was as big as a mountain! I ate my food. I will never forget the taste of this yummy pasta! After that we went to play in the tournament. I didn’t like it because I only played a bit. M/y favorite part of the trip was when I went to Venice. I liked going on the gondola and walking next to the sea and stores. I loved their pizza. The second thing I liked was when I went to the San Ciro stadium to watch Inter Milan vs. Palermo. The match was intense. First Inter Milan scored 1 goal. Then Palermo scored. After that Inter Milan scored again. Then Palermo scored 1 last goal. So the score ended up 2-2. Right after the match, we went to the hotel to pack because we were leaving to Beirut early in the morning.
I felt sad. I wanted to stay longer, but I had to go. This trip to Italy will be an unforgettable one. I will always treasure it deep in my heart.

“Tear! “OUCH!! Why do they want to tear me! Can’t they use my back! Every day they take me draw or write on me, and then guess what! They tear me or throw me in this disgusting garbage can. It is as if they don’t care about my life! It hurts and is so annoying!
Sometimes they even crumple me into a ball, cut me into mini pieces, and step on me! After that, they don’t even care to throw me in the recycle bin! Even though I beg them and tell them please throw me in please. I beg you because I will still live and maybe I will find a family who takes more care of me.
I am so happy when I am in a new pack at a store. I get to play, sleep, and talk with my friends the rest of the papers. Oh come on! Not again! Oh yeah I forgot to tell you, my dad and mom are trees! Ahhh!!! Help!!!!

My Trip to See a Real Cell

Did you ever see a real cell in your life? Well that happened to me!
When I reached the classroom, Mrs. Rishani announced to line up because we were going to the high school science lab to see real cells.
When we reached the lab, the science teacher Ms. Sleiman talked to us a bit about and what we are going to see. The kinds of cells were the cheek cells, the muscle cells, the banana cells, the leaf cells, and the onion cells. When I looked at them with the microscope there were all sorts of organelles. Some of them looked like wood, flowers, hearts, and pictures that people colored. They were still all real. It was fantastic! Then Ms. Sleiman pricked Mrs. Rishani’s finger to see a red blood cell. It was hard to believe that she didn’t even say ouch. When I saw the blood cell, there were so many organelles that looked like little spots. After we each saw it, we were all looking at reptile heads, bodies or the whole animal itself. We saw eels, crocodiles, toads, lizards and snakes. They were all in bottles or glass boxes. It was really interesting!
After that, we all lined up, said thank you, and went back to class. I wanted to stay more. My face was filled with happiness. I will never forget this day. It was very special.

“Ding dong” the doorbell rang. I hurried to the door. When I opened the door I found Omar standing there. He came in and started playing a funny and extraordinary fighting game on Playstation 3 called “Naruto Ultimate Ninja
Storm.” We had had a lot of fun battling and playing the real story in the game. We also played a Lego game online called “Roblox.” I asked Omar “Can I start today Omar? Usually you’re the one to start.” He said “Ok.” After a while, I let him play. Then I heard footsteps behind the door. I opened it and saw my best friend Sary. He came in and started playing “Naruto.” I had to go from friend to friend just to see if they were doing ok. I barely had time for myself! Then Omar and Sary switched what they were doing. So Omar played “Naruto” while Sary played computer. After that I heard some ones voice behind the door. I opened it hurriedly. Hassan was there. He came in and played “Naruto” with Omar. Then he used my Macbook computer to play on facebook. So we played and had a lot of fun. Then the doorbell rang. I opened it and found Allan. He came in. He wanted to try “Naruto.” So I taught him how to play. I think I played a bit too hard on him. Then my mom came with ice cream like: Cornetto, strawberry ice cream from Haagen-Daz, and she also got something called Snowflakes. We all ate ice cream and all played “Naruto.” Then we continued playing “Naruto” to try and win the game. We kept on winning levels until we were on the last level. They gave me the controller for me to win, but when I started the electricity cut off. I got a bit sad because I didn’t save. So we stopped playing and played computer. We mostly played something called the powder game. It is a game where you are normal stickmen that runs like someone with a broken leg. Then we spray some kinds of elements on their head for them to attack the other stickmen with the kind of element. It is a lot of fun. Then we ate hamburger for lunch. It was homemade hamburger. It was really yummy. Then Omar had to leave. So I took him down, told him bye, and went back up. Then Sary, Allan, and I were watching Southpark episodes while Hassan felt like playing “Naruto.” I kept on telling him to sit with us and watch but he said he didn’t like it. I told him to try it because he never watched it before but he just said no. So I let him do what ever he wants. From time to time I duel Hassan, Sary, and Allan because I get a bit bored of Southpark. Then they called Hassan to go. I took him to the lift and told him bye. Sary had to go at the same time. So I took him to the lift and told him bye, too. Then Allan and I played the powder game until evening. Then he had to go. So I took him down and told him bye.
I was really tired that day, but I had a lot of fun!

“Yeah! Today is going to be the first time I go to a live francophone game. I am so exited. Today is the opening. I bet it is going to be really cool! I wore my clothes and headed to my cousin’s friend’s car. I went with my cousin, her friends, and my mom. The opening took place at the Camille Chamoun Stadium. When we reached, we parked the car and walked until we reached the stadium. Over there, I saw scouts playing on percussion instruments. It was really loud. There were also chariots selling pizza, hot dog, drinks, and many other things. I decided to buy some later because I wasn’t hungry. When we were in, we sat down in a row of empty seats and waited until the opening started. It took about 1-2 hours until it started. When it started, a group of Lebanese army was down with some percussion instruments. They were marching in a parade. They did that for about 1-2 hours too. I liked it at the beginning, but then it was kind of boring. After that, athletes from each country that was participating in the francophone games was walking after each other with their country’s flag. It was really fun to watch. Some of the players were dancing. It was mostly the Africans. I felt hungry so I asked my mom to get me a hot dog. So she went to get me some. When the players went, the staff in charge of the francophone games put on a slide show about the villages and cities in Lebanon. Every time they said the name of the city or village they acted something related to it. There was sword fighting, singing, dancing, and acting. It was my favorite part. It was amazing. After that, a famous singer called Yousondoo singed a song called Seven Seconds Away. It was already 9 p.m. I was really tired, it was time to go home. It was a really special experience. I can’t wait until I go to see the athletics.
