to all of my friends in the blogging world.  I have been reassigned and am now teaching kindergarten.  I am currently working on a plan to get my kindergartners involved.  In  a little bit of time I plan to have something up and running.  I still have all of my former 4th graders reading and responding, so please keep writing to them.  As soon as I get something going I'll let you know.

Here We Go!!

It is time my new students staerted blogging.  After a short discussion on Biography's the students have been prompted to write their own breif biography to introduce themselves to the blogging community.  Luckily, several students in my class this year came from a class that began blogging last year, so we have some support to help our fellow students learn the process.  We look forward to discussing different pieces of literature and our writing with our friends all over the world.

August

Well, August is here.  That means we only have a couple of weeks before school starts again.  I have been very busy lately.  I just got 4 wisdom teeth taken out at the dentist.  Now I hve to eat soft food for 10 whole days.  It is like I am a baby again.  Mrs. Daunis keeps putting my   food in a food processor, which pretty much turns everything into baby food.  It still tastes pretty good though.  Also, I am going to take Mrs. Daunis and Hailee to Pennsylvania this weekend to see some caves, the Crayola Crayon factory and The Harry Houdini Museum.  Houdini was a famous magician.  I am really excited about the crayon factory  though, it  should be cool to see how crayons are made.  I'll take some pictures and show you.  I have also been at the new school setting up my classroom.  There are some familiar things in there and some nw things.  I look forward to seeing everyone soon.  I hope allof youare enjoying your summer.

First Week of Summer

Article posted June 24, 2008 at 01:18 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 2858

Well the first week of summer has come and gone.  I am curious to hear about how everyone is spending their time.  I started by playing a little golf, I didn't do so well, I spent most of my time trying to find my ball in the woods or water.  Then I worked on my car a little bit, it caught  on fire.  But I put it out.  Finally, I spend my nights playing with my daughter and reading.  I just finished reading Bridge to Terebithia.  Now I am going to go to the library and find something else to read.  I would love it if some of you posted your own blog telling me how you are spending you summer.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Coolest Things Ever

Hey everyone, I wanted to share with you something really neat! Did you see what I just did?  Thats right, you can highlight with color now when you write an article!  How cool is that.  Now you can add some POP to every article you write.  Also, you can add links to other webpages now, so when you want to show a certain wweb page in your article all you have to do is make a LINK.  Your link would look like this if you wanted to go to Columbus Schools homepage.  All you have to do is click on the highlighted underlined blue words and you'll zip right to our schools webpage. You can also make a picture a link or insert a picture with ease...  I am so excited.  I can't wait to show you all how to do this...

In recognition of Nation Poetry month, I thought it only proper that we discuss and write some poetry. I have recently found quite an amusing poem while reading James and the Giant Peach. Do any of you remember it? Can anyone tell me another story with some poetry in it. If you can think of one, write a blog about it and let me know. I also look forward to reading the poems you have been posting. They are fantastic so far. Don't stop at one, write many.

The Magicians Nephew

Article posted March 24, 2008 at 06:21 PM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 488

Have any of you read the book, The Magicians Nephew, by C.S. Lewis? I just finished it and it I think it is one of the greatest pieces of literature that I have ever read. Let me tell you why. First, this book told me everything I wanted to know about the magical world of Narnia. I had so many questions when I first read it, but now I don't. Also, the author, C.S. Lewis, has a way with words that just sucks you into the story and gets you completely wrapped up in everything going on. Finally, I felt so connected to the main characters in the story. They seemed so real. I laughed when they did and cried when they did. I don't know if I'll ever experience another book like this again. I hope you take the oppurtunity to experience it as well. Let me know if you are interested and I will get a copy for whomever wants to read it.
Now I've tried my very best to persuade you to read this book... Can you try to persuade me to read a book?

Give it a shot and post a blog with your response. As a hint, here are some books I have been thinking about; The Chronicles of Narnia, The Spiderwick Chronicles, Holes, A Series of Unfortunate Events, and our most recent, James and the Giant Peach. Think about a women who from history that has impacted the way you think. Is it a relative? Is it a scientist? Was she an entrepenuer? It can be any woman who has inspired you to be great. Many women from history have fought against incredible odds to be great or do something great. There are many women I can think of from history, such as Rosa Parks, Oprah Winfrey, Amelia Earhart, Clara Barton, and the list goes on. Post a blog telling everyone about a women from history whom you admire. I look forward to reading your wonderful work.

New Frontiers

Article posted January 11, 2008 at 01:59 AM GMT0 • comment (17) • Reads 354

I want to begin by welcoming everyone to our blog. Here my class will share their original writings as well as "reviews" of stories they have read. I hope everyone enjoys what we have to offer, and as always feel free to comment.
Also, I should tell you that this is our first attempt at blogging. So we will be experimenting as we go.

Many of you may not know what a blog is. Well, it is a just like a journal entry, except it will be visable to anyone with internet access around the world. So, everyone should look forward to hearing from not only local people, but also people from around the globe.

Finally, remember, that you can also post comments on your friends blogs as well as other peoples world-wide. Get started and enjoy. I look forward to seeing the wonderful things all of you have to write.
