Summer

I cant wait till summer! I already have plans. I just LOVE summer for several reasons:
1. I just LOVE going to the beach.
2. We take a break from school but not completely because I am sure the homeroom teacher and the Arabic teacher will give us something to do so that we do not completely forget about school.
3. We get to visit our friends more often.
4. Last but not least because I love the season summer.
Why do you like summer?

Teachers....

Article posted May 21, 2008 at 08:37 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 191

I really don't like it when teachers do not believe us. I have a story to prove it. So do my best friends Noura and Yasmina. Here it goes: Our teacher told us that we can use the bathroom without asking her. So we three, Yasmina, Noura, and I, used the bathroom. When we finished, we were headed out of the bathroom. A teacher just opened the door and asked us why we were in there. We said that we were just using the bathroom and then we are going to recess. Then, the teacher did not believe us, so we felt really bad. This is why I wrote this article.

My Experience

Article posted May 19, 2008 at 01:13 PM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 327

During this unexpected vacation, many things happened. I got real scared. Whenever I hear something, I get real scared. My aunt just gave birth, but there is bad news. Her husband works in Germany and he was supposed to come last week, but since they closed the airport, he can't come. He is coming today. It was also Noura B.'s birthday on Wednesday. My best friend's birthday was in a middle of a war. This is what happened on Wednesday, at 5:00. They made the cake and celerbrated her birthday in the hallway for saftey. Noura B. was holding the cake in her hand. The family was singing: Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday BOOOM! A gun was fired. Noura was so surprised that when the gun fired, the cake fell out of her hand on the floor. Noura B.'s new dog was sleeping. When he woke up, he ate the cake from the floor. I was not there. Noura B. told me about it. It was a dramatic experience that I would never forget!

A Trip To The Sohat Factory!

Article posted May 5, 2008 at 04:14 PM GMT0 • comment (3) • Reads 603

On Monday, May 5, we went on a field trip to the Sohat factory. It was so much fun and very interesting. After that, we went up into the mountains to look for fossils. I got one, it looks like a sea shell. Then, we went up to something that looks like a garden and ate there. It was so much fun!

Bad Girls

Article posted April 29, 2008 at 01:42 PM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 375

Over the vacation, I read this book called Bad Girls. Before I put the summary, I just want to say that this book is mostly for girls. Here is the summary:

Mandy White, the main character of the story, is a good girl, whom bad girls like to pick on. They pick on her for many reasons; usually they pick on her because of her looks. For example, they pick on the way she fixes her hair, clothes, and her “old fashioned” glasses. They make fun of her hair because she fixes her hair in braids that made her look like an eight year old (she actually ten years old). Mandy does not fix her hair; her mom does. Her mom does not let her put her hair down because she thinks that when she puts her hair down she looks like a teenager.

They make fun of her clothes because they are pink and they also have bunnies on them. The clothes make her look like she is in kindergarten, but Mandy does not want to wear them, but her mom forces her to wear those kind of clothes. Her mom thinks that the other clothes that everybody else wears are not suitable for Mandy’s age.

They pick on her glasses because they look really lame and old fashioned. Mandy’s mom does not want her to change glasses because the glasses that she has are very expensive. Life for Mandy is really hard for her, especially when Mandy’s best friend Melanie, became one of the bullies.

But later on things start to brighten up for Mandy when a bigger and tougher girl moved next to Mandy’s house. Her name is Tanya. Tanya then chooses Mandy to be her best friend. Tanya is a foster child, and she is nothing like good little Mandy. Tanya is fun, tough, and wears the latest fashion trends. Of course, Mandy’s mother does not want her to do spend time with Tanya! Find out what is going to happen by reading this book. You can find this book in our elementary library.

Dear Diary (Not a True Story)

Article posted April 25, 2008 at 04:18 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 391

Dear Diary,

Today was the most weird day at school! Yasmina didn't speak to me all day. I forgot my homework for math class. My new friend John isn't talking to me anymore. And to top it all off, I forgot my lunch, so I had to borrow money to buy lunch. I hate borrowing money, I hate forgetting my homework, and I hate it when my friends don't talk to me! Wow!! I hope tomorrow is a better day!

Dear Diary,

Everything was much better today. Yasmina wasn't mad at me; she was just upset because her parents would not let her go to a party. She was kind toward everyone. My math teacher said she'd only take one point off my homework because this was the only time I'd ever forgotten anything. She said everyone makes big mistakes sometimes. My new friend John is talking to me. He was just busy helping out a sick friend. He had to gather all of his friend's homework. My friend who loaned me the money for lunch yesterday said I didn't have to pay him back, because I had loaned him money for lunch a while ago.

I hope every day is a good as today!

For Your Eyes Only!!

Article posted April 25, 2008 at 04:00 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 270

There is this girl called Lucy. Lucy just loves to write in her notebook. She writes in it all most every day. Lucy writes about her daily life, but at the same time it is not like a biography. Instead it is fun to read about her. But, she has this big problem; there is this boy called Andy. Andy is one of Lucy’s worst enemies. Andy always annoys Lucy. To make things even worse, he lives next door, and he keeps on spying on her. But, there was this one day when Andy travels to Canada forever, and Lucy starts to miss him, and does not admit it. So find out for yourself how this story will end.

This book is called For your Eyes Only by Joanne Rocklin. I really like this book because for one whole day I did not put that book down! I really advise you to read this book! This book is mostly for girls.

When I feel happy......

Article posted April 25, 2008 at 03:54 PM GMT0 • comment • Reads 313

When I feel happy, I feel like there is something inside me that cannot get out. When I feel happy I cannot explain the feeling. When I feel happy, my heart starts pounding really quickly. When I feel happy I smile to everyone (I even smile to people who I do not like). If I am at home and I feel happy, I start writing in my diary that I keep hidden in my room. When I feel happy I get hyper. That is how I act when I feel happy. How do you feel when you are happy?

Egyptian Missions

Article posted April 25, 2008 at 11:00 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 297

In class, we have to go to a website. In this website, we have to complete missions. In each mission, we they give us one question, and links that we can go to to find information. With the information that we discovered, we have to write an essay for that mission. There are six missions. I shared this with you because I thought that it is really interesting and fun thing to do!

Water Pollution

Article posted April 20, 2008 at 05:59 AM GMT0 • comment • Reads 257

Did you know that many sea animals die because they see a plastic bag and they eat it and choke on it? Well, that is because of pollution. Turtles, for example, think plastic bags are jelly fish and try to eat them. Even factories can pollute our world by dumping down chemicals down lakes, streams, ECT... Did you know that the Nile River is the most polluted river in the world? I think that we should stop polluting water.
In the first place, scientists are polluting water by dumping down chemicals in the oceans. Why?! Instead of dumping it in the ocean, they could go to a special place where they can give it to specialized people, and they can they can break it down without harming our planet, Earth.
Secondly, people dump trash such as soda cans and glass. They could walk to the garbage can and throw it in the garbage can, instead of throwing it in the sea. Sea animals die almost everyday because they see trash in the oceans and they think that it is food; they eat it, choke on it, and die. We are not only harming us humans, we are also harming our animals!
Last but not least, oil dumping. Oil dumping is also very serious to our world. Do you remember the war that happened in Lebanon last summer? The people in Lebanon could not eat fish or go to the ocean to swim for about two years. That was because of water pollution. Mostly, oil dumping occurs in wars.
Water pollution should be stopped ASAP (as soon as possible) because it will make a big impact in the future if it does not stop. I suggest that on Earth Day, schools should make field trips to go to the ocean, and start cleaning up. This is really affecting our world. It is not only affecting one country, instead, it is affecting the world. Everyone can make a difference, if they just try!
