Hello Grade 4/5s
I hope everyone is enjoying their day off and all of the new snow that is falling. I just wanted to remind everyone to finish their Olympic Athlete entry as well as a reminder to keep working on your Olympic journals.

Hello Grade 4/5s.
Now that most of you are finished your 7 Random Facts assignment. It's time to leave comments to each other, as well as to other students in other classrooms around the world.
I have found two classes participating in this project so far. I put their links on the sidebar. Top Dogs and South Paris Blog. As I find more classrooms I will add them. Check out their blogs and start leaving comments. Remember to include your URL.
Have Fun!
Miss Brown

The grade four and five students learned about the fiber art of batik which uses hot wax and dye to create interesting crackle patterns and coloration in fabric. We made our own paper batik turkeys by observing and drawing turkeys. We went over our lines with chalk and then painted between the lines with tempera paint. We used complementary colours to complete our composition. Once the paint dried, we wadded our papers up to create the crackling effect of batik. Finally, we coated our pictures with gloss polymer which "erased" the chalk lines and made the crackle pattern show through.

Our first Butterfly has arrived! It was a very exciting day. We found out that the butterfly was a girl. She didn't have dots on her wings. Hopefully she finds her way to Mexico!!

Grade 4/5's
I love this assignment. 7 Random Facts gives us a chance to look for connections all around the world. We post 7 things about us, everybody else posts 7 things about themselves...we go around the world and leave comments!
It's supposed to be fun and supposed to teach us how to leave appropriate comments with other classes around the world. You will need to sign your comments with your online nickname and leave a link back to your blog.
So now....we wait.
We wait until the other classrooms have posted their 7 Random Fact assignments, then we start our search!
Have Fun!
