Earlier this year, our class combined with a PreK class from China and a first grade and second grade class from the USA to make this e-book. In it, each of the classes shared some of their celebrations.

We hope you enjoy reading it as much as the children enjoyed writing it. Just click on the image below to read it.

Celebrate with us!

Reading Fluency with Elephant and Piggie

The students LOVE the Elephant and Piggie books by Mo Willems. We've been reading them a lot lately to practice our reading fluency. Thank you, Kinderkids and Mrs. Knee, for telling us about Elephant and Piggie and for the great idea for the headbands!

Two men from Shaw TV were in our classroom recently to film us using our iPads. The highlight of their visit was a chance for the students to check out the view through their camera!

Adding with our iPads

We tried out a new app recently (Tens Frame) that lets us use the iPad as a math manipulative for addition and subtraction. Not one of the "counters" got lost and there was no mess on the floor to clean up afterwards!

A View From the Window

Article posted June 10, 2012 at 10:49 PM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 3471

This spring, our class has been working with other classes around the world--sharing and learning together. Several collaborative projects have resulted. The book below is one of the products from that collaboration and contains pages created by various PreK - 2 classrooms from around the world as part of the Flat Classroom Project.

Each of the participating classes focused on "A View From the Window" of their school in a different way. Our page (containing photos and text created by the students) is first, but it is fascinating to see what all of the other classes have created as well. Click on the image to see the finished product.

Reading to the Kindergrten

Article posted May 31, 2012 at 11:59 PM GMT0 • comment (1) • Reads 2603

Since the first week of school, my students have been asking me when it will be their turn to read to the kindergarten students. They remember when last year's grade ones read to them, and look forward to being the readers.

This week it was finally their turn.
