Article posted June 12, 2009 at 08:22 PM GMT • comment • Reads 715

Next year I’m going to miss grade 7 because he’s cool because he made me laugh and he’s good at the guitar. Some of the things I’ll do in summer are hang out with my friends, practice guitar, travel and maybe I’ll go to Disneyland with my cousins this year. I hope next year will be great!

Cooks Brook

When the author says “Ready to plunge headfirst into the dark water below and always that moment of terror,” I think it means how scary it was to jump for the first time into the water and thinking that you would die if you did. Also, this sentence “It would be better to die skull smashed open in the water than it would be to climb backwards down the beach” means that you would rather die because you don’t want to be embarrassed, humiliated and laughed at if you back down from the jump. The main idea is how scary it is for the people that wanted to jump into a lake from a high ledge and a person is thinking he will not make it. I think the kids that volunteered thought it was a good idea at the time but when they were on the ledge, they changed their minds.

In 1859, Gold was first discovered in Canada in the North Saskatchewan River around Prince Albert. Then in 1990 - 1913, gold was first getting mined when they were found on the shore of Lake Athabasca and lake Amisk. In 1920 -1930, gold was discovered around the La Ronge volcanic belt, Flin Flon and beaverlodge places. 1980’s was when people wanted to find all the gold in Saskatchewan so they started the exploration that by 1988, cost $5 million but a high percentage of gold remained unexplored. Today, more than 200 mines are used around Canada and many in Saskatchewan.

My favorite web tool would be Flickr Toys because you can do fun things like a fake magazine cover, CD covers, a mosaic maker, six picture cubes (dice dots or none), bead art, badge maker, calendar creator, and my favorite, you can create a trading card with any picture and text you want.

I would like to help protect the Earth by recycling more. I usually recycle once every two months and now it’s pilling up downstairs. That’s what I plan on doing more once every few weeks.

Ways to help

Article posted March 6, 2009 at 08:14 PM GMT • comment • Reads 166

There are many ways to show how you care about the environment like picking and taking garbage after yourself or others. Try and stop people that are destroying and cutting down the environment. You can also find ways to clean the ponds and ocean by cleaning, picking up garbage, and find different ways to use something either than harmful fuels.Remember, you are not alone, people will help you make a difference

Everest's Problem

Article posted March 6, 2009 at 03:39 PM GMT • comment • Reads 178

This story is about teens who volunteered to pick up Mount Everest because it was getting littered. They picked up empty oxygen tanks, tents, food containers, and other unwanted stuff. The volunteers met up with many climbers and asked them if they brought their trash with them and not many said they had thrown them into crevices. This article made me realize that even the "rooftop of the world" is being filled with garbage. If Everest is unclimbable what frontier is left?

How Green Are You?

Article posted March 4, 2009 at 03:36 PM GMT • comment • Reads 117

This quiz I took is about checking if you’re making an effort to change the environment and seeing how muck you know about it. I scored a 16 on it so I was mid-green, it told me I’m thinking about the planet and trying my best to help. The quiz was adapted from The Young Person’s Guide to Saving the Planet.

In India, there where many trees getting cut down destroying forests. So, the women of northern India started the Chipko Movement to protect it.
