Please visit our wikispace (see related links) and access the hyperlinked document under the heading "Censorship Activity."
Examine each of the links provided to answer the questions. Write detailed answers in your notebook. Take your time with the readings and view the audio/video pieces entirely. When you are finished, you should be prepared to discuss these topics in class.
After you are done with the censorship activity, post on your blog some final reflections:
Do you think it is important for us to be concerned about the censorship of the internet in China? Why or why not? Please include reference to keywords that are blocked in China and your thoughts on why they are banned.

Follow the related link--Trojan War Clay Animation. Watch this video that was created by students studying Latin that tells the story of the Trojan War.
Post in your blog a two part reflection.
In the first part, summarize in your own words what happens to begin this war, the main characters and important highlights of the battle.
In the second part, reflect on the project itself. How does an assignment like the creation of a clay animation vs. a book report or research paper affect learning? Would you be more or less interested in learning about the Trojan War? What other projects can you think of that would increase your interest in mythology and learning?
Remember to respond to all the points listed here.

As explained in class today, you have been assigned a multigenre project. A multigenre project is one that is designed to allow you to express what you know about your mythology topic through a variety of mini-projects that are all connected together through the use of a repetend. The repetend can be a symbol, a quote, the container, a narrative that continues through each piece. If you need additional ideas see the link REPETEND under Related Links.
You need to have four types of genre represented in your project. Follow the link under GENRE for examples to choose from.

I have spent the better half of my prep hour searching for an article about classroom blogging that will answer this question: Does it matter if students use proper spelling, grammar and punctuation in their blogs? I have read about 6 articles about student blogging and the importance of using blogs to generate communication among students. So...instead of searching and reading and searching some more, I am posing this question to all of the freshmen bloggers at NHS...What do you think? Is it important to use proper forms of communication when blogging in a professional environment? Let me know. I really want to know why students feel that they are able to present themselves to the world without caring if they appear to be intelligent or not. Many major companies are beginning to use the web as a reference for their future employees. When they interview a prospective employee they often have a person who does a web search for any possible postings on the internet. They are looking for intelligent people who care about their work. Colleges are beginning to search social networking sites like myspace and Facebook to see if their prospective students meet the criteria for acceptance into their schools. The web is going to be a huge resource for everything many of you do in your future. So let's generate some discussion as to the possible reasons the vast majority of you are unable to post blogs without proofreading your material first. Extra credit for the most creative response.

Business letters are expected to follow a specific format. Usually they are about serious topics as well. The letters we have shared in class follow the structure of a business letter, but the topics are very unusual. Which of the letters we shared were most entertaining to you? What about the responses? How would you have responded to a letter like these?
WHEN YOUR ARE FINISHED ANSWERING THE QUESTIONS IN THE PARAGRAPH ABOVE....
You have to write a letter of your own. It can be a real one, based on a real experience, or you can try to write your own version of a "letter from a nut." Either way, it must fit the format of a business letter, so check your notes. Go to Google Docs, or some other word processor to start typing your letter when you are ready. You will have time in class Wednesday.
Your letter, typed, is due on Friday.
