Dear Mr. Andrew:
My book is Afternoon of the Elves by Mary-Jane Auch. The story is all about two girls that found an elf village. One of the girls is thought as "strange" in school and the other girl realizes no one can be "strange" or "normal"- even by human standards.( I can connect to this because my friends figured out the same thing when they thought I was strange. ) I think it is really about a house. The setting always changes because of the house.
I really thought the turning point that affected everyone's lives is when one of the girls' mother entered the house. I think that because the "strange " girl's life wasn't so secret anymore. Everyone's life was changed in a big way. My own friends have thown me through stages like that, so I know how it feels. Strange. Pressurized. Stressing. Hard to get used to.
I recommend the story because it has hidden messages about trust. It makes even developing readers think, and hard. Just be sure it doesn't trap you in!
-Sincerely,
Sofia
P.S:You should the book for read-aloud
