A Little Random Thing Sometimes when I am bored I do some research in old books and magazines.

Today, I was skimming through a book about the solar system. I found out some fascinating facts and thought maybe some people would like to hear them. For example, the Hubble Space Telescope is a telescope above the atmosphere of the earth. Because it circles the earth, it provides a sharper look of the universe. I also found it interesting how the four planets closest to the sun were made of rock and metal. That lead me to the question of if metal came from those planets to earth from the astronauts. And if you think you had a long day after school you should feel thankful; on Pluto a day lasts 153 hours!

My favorite part was finding out about constellations. They are clusters of stars that people have imagined to form pictures in the night sky. People have named these star formations after the mythological characters or animals they look like, such as Gemini, the twins. These constellations, and sub-constellations called asterisms (such as the Big Dipper and the Little Dipper), are visible in different places in the sky during different parts of the year.

Plus, if anyone has ever seen a real constellation then please let me know when and where. I really want to see one some time. And for a picture of constellations there are images on Google.

At least someone reads! Unlike others who spend time watching TV, you decide to read. That's great! I've seen several constellations before but never in real life. I wish I could!

What a good use of time. Aren't books amazing?
I have seen a few constellations; I have seen the Big Dipper and the Little Dipper. I have seen a few others, but I don't recall their names.

I enjoyed reading your information.

I loved this article! First, I loved it that you do such a productive thing when you're bored.

Second, I love astronomy (mostly the constellations). My favorite constellation is Orion; it can be seen by the naked eye, when the sky is clear. I'll try to include an image for you. Why do I like Orion? I'm not sure, but when I was studying Art and Archeology of the Aegean, I started learning about Greek Mythology -- that got me to the fantastic stories. I think Orion is one of those stories.
