Best Show Ever Is Having A Contest!
Over time I have acquired a love for history and one of my favorite shows, American Pickers is having a contest for students.
WE HAVE GOT TO DO THIS! (All caps in typing means you are shouting, I am excited!)
For our class:
1. Find an item that you think has some historical value.
2. Find out everything you can about it and bring your item into school by Tuesday, April 17th.
3. Write a description of your item that is less than 500 words.
4. Take a digital picture of it (at home or school)
We will have our own contest in class, then anyone that wants to submit theirs for the real contest will be given an envelope and we will mail them in. Their deadline mailing is May 1st.
This is sg and I think this contest is awsome. I mean 10,000 dollars that is a pretty awesome prize. I told my brothers and sister about it and they said I have to do this.

The object that I brought in is called a scribe. It is from an auction. My mom bought it for my dad because my dad likes old tools. There are two meanings for scribe one is a person that knows how to read and write, well that is what it ment a long time ago. once I find more information I will post another coment.

Finance game
I brought in my great grandma Mary’s Parker Bros Finance Game from 1936. My Grandma Sue remembers playing this game at my great-great grandma Martha’s in Illinois. My great grandma Mary and her brother Leonard and sister Joyce got this game as a present in 1936. This was a popular game back then just like Monopoly is now. This was passed down to my mom.
I looked this game up on the internet, I seen a couple of these games selling for $100.00.
During 1935, Parker Brothers was developing its own version of Monopoly. Almost an exact copy of Monopoly, Fortune had a limited numbers of copies made Also in 1935, Finance out sells Monopoly. With Parker Brothers taking over for Darrow in publishing his Monopoly game in 1935, Parker Brothers purchased "Finance" from Knapp for $10,000. Parker Brothers changed Finance as it was less similar to Monopoly and published it under the Finance Game Company name for 1935. Parker Brothers made additional changes in 1936 and published it with the Parker Brothers name.
Also the finance game has different streets than the regular monopoly and that was my great-great grandma’s favorite game and also my mom’s mom also played it with her and so did her husband and that was my mom’s mom favorite game and it was a remembrance in our family.
